Paint burning

Up until a year ago I had only been using a sears rotary buffer on my car. Which I used just to help make sure I got all the Gold Class of my cars. I then started hearing on another forum about people using rotarys polishers on thier cars, and them getting good results. Well I was so excited having seen the results that I forgot to research and just went out and bought a Sears rotary polisher (not rotary orbital, just rotary). I then proceeded to lightly burn some spots on my paint, having no idea how to use it, and with it being so difficult to use. Needless to say that was the last time I used it. I am now back to using the old rotary buffer, but since having come to this site ( a few months ago) I have become quite interested in purchasing a PC.

So my question is, will I be in the same boat buying a PC? While I know that practice makes perfect, will the PC burn the paint just as easily as the rotary??
 
The PC and a true rotary are two totally different animals.

A PC does not produce the heat like a rotary and many people say the only way to damage a car with it is to throw it at the car.

I think it is safe to say after a little reading here on how to use the PC it is safe for MOST (there are a few idiots out there) people to use. I have no problem giving it to a friend to try out on my car. I think it is that safe.
