Pain, but worth it...

Well, today, I spent eight hours of quality time with my new PC7424 and did a full exterior detailing on my car. Wash, Clay, 3M SMR, Klasse AIO, Klasse HSG, Mothers showtime carnuba wax, then windows, valences, wheels and tires.

OUCH! I can't feel my arms, but here are the results:

I wish I had a better digital camera, the car looks like it's two completely different colors.

The PC and SMR combo did the trick on taking out all of the fine swirls, but I noticed that I have some pretty bad water spots on the roof. Any suggestions on minimizing those?

WOW! That looks great!! I know what you mean about it being worth it. I just spent 3 hours on a neighbor's new car and 2 hours on mine. I'm ready for a nap I think. :) You know what they say... No pain, no gain. Very awesome job! :xyxthumbs

nice work! ya..... the PC can be a bit tough to get used to the first time...... don't worry though - I did a 3-day marathon with mine once and by the time I was done I felt like my arms were vibrating if I WASNT holding the PC going at speed 6 in my hands..... lol....

btw are those the stock rims or what?? :bow

Thanks guys! I think I'll probably vibrate for the next two days. I bet you could whip up some good margeritas with the shake of the PC. ;) The sunset was actually very nice, unfortunately I just missed getting some good pics right at sunset.

Young Detailer: The wheels aren't stock, they are Rondell R58's from edgeracing.com. I have more info in my profile and on my website.

I am planning on doing that exact same procedure on my car sometime during the summer! I have a question though, my car was bought used and has a LARGE amount of swirls and fine scratches in the clear. It is driving me insane! Would it be alright on my clear to use some 3M Perfect it II fine cut rubbing compound over the entire car (with an orbital) and then follow up with some SMR to eliminate possible hase. Would the PI-II be too harsh? I will then follow up with the klasse twins, AIO and SG. Then my topper will be Mothers Showtime Carnuba Paste.

P.S. - Nice job on the car! I can just hope that mine will turn out looking that great!

You know, for some reason I think those VW's have some kind of super special Paint. Every one I look at (aside from the fugly beetles) seems to have a deep look to it. I don't know if its how they shape thier cars or if its thier clearcoat but I cant seem to get my paint to look like the veedub paint. Granted I have the fabled "thin" subaru paint.

Either way, those pics are VERY impressive and I tried my car this weekend but had some probs as noted in my autobiography of this weekends detailing in the other post.

Looks good.....

I love VWs. I want a GTI 1.8T. But the VW salespeople suck. They won't budge on their prices because the demand for the car is high. They know that after I walk out, someone will walk in and pay sticker and buy the extended warranty. :scared

Yea, I love the cars... it's no BMW, but its great particularily for 'daily drivers.' :D I got the Passat at $100 over invoice; great compared to the $1000 above on the Bimmer. :(

I was looking at a 325xi when I bought my Passat. I think I like the Passat much more than the BMW, particularly the extra $8000 in my pocket. :p I dare say, that with my Eibach sport suspension, it handles almost as well as the BMW too.
