Paid to get his truck detailed and look what he got..

Detailing Reject
Poor guy handled it better then I would of.
Okay, first off, a bit about my truck... 2007 2500HD 4wd, BLACK, crew cab, diesel. I went today to a high end detail shop here in town (elkhart, IN) and had a chat with the shop owner. Asked him what his best detail package consisted of and his response was interior and exterior, wash, and wax... shampooing carpets and upholstry. Sounds good.. do it. BTW, I have some light scratches from the brush car washes, can you wheel those out?? Sure can.. great! Pick the truck up after hours, paid site unseen just from the reviews that i have heard. Asked if it didn't meet my expectations, could I bring it back? Sure. Okay.

Got the truck back and from a distance looked awesome... got closer and my head turned sideways... like a dog that doesn't understand. I see the tailpipe first... HIGH GLOSS spray paint has been applied to the entire pipe, muffler, and rest of the system... WTF????

Next, see ALL the inner fenders.... same thing. Did my A arms, shocks, and pretty much everything else you see in there.

Head to the rear wheel well, same thing. Even the springs are HALF WAY done.

Brand new reciever for my hitch... (which was in the hitch) was painted. Half of it of course...

Next is the frame rails that are visible... these were undercoated at the dealer prior to me picking up the truck when I bought it. Well, they decided to paint those as well. Also cover my decals on the frame (VIN) with paint.

WTF do I do???? Called the owner and his response was that we do this everytime time for a full detail and no one has complained... find that hard to believe... Meeting him tomorrow at 8:00am with a witness to cover my butt.... any ideas???

Also included a pic prior to detailing...

Ok, went to his shop this am and here is the scoop.

Got there with my wife as a witness and heres how it went... he started looking at it, asked what the problem was. Well, lets see... its a new freakin truck with SPRAY PAINT on it... looks like crap. My wife let him know her disgust with it as well. Long story, he got pissed, called me a dick... told my wife to sit her ass in the truck, and threatened to break my neck. Now I am not a small man by any means... 5'8", 220 lbs, muscle is present. He is a 170 gold toothed black guy with tat's. Not worried at all but I cannot be arrested (custody case in process). So I puff up, tell him it needs to be put back to the way it was. He says, I wil refund your money and you can deal with it. So, we walked back inside, he attempts to refund my money but instead, charges me three more times of the orginal amount. I leave, call my CC company and complain and turns out he never refunded me my orginal amount. I call him, he is pleasent on the phone, told him he still owes me... he said come back tuesday. I already consulted my lawyer, took pics, and will be filing in small claims court tuesday afternoon after I get 2 quotes to have everything fixed. Looking at new inner fenders, new exhaust, and complete undercoating... complete BS if you ask me....

name of his shop is hops quality detail. located in elkhart, indiana on beck dr.

Thats what the dealers detailers ddo around here. I dont paint any thing any where. I like things clean shiny, not HIDDEN.

OMFG, I had no idea some people did this... Not cool at all. This is a full on modification and permanent in most cases probably. I would have flipped also.

I'd be at redline myself. Good thing you held back because there are many that would have beat the f*%# out of him. Good luck with the lawsuit. Wow 2 complaints on here in a week. No good. the pics would be great to see I'm very curious.

I was laughing already when I saw that it was my hometown. I don't think the guy will have any problem getting his money back with a lawyer involved. Hopefully it costs enough to put that guy out of business. If not, I'll make a little picture story the next time I go home.

 Wow! that is unbelievable!

The business responsible for that should just go ahead and close up shop, terrible work.........

Good luck with the litigation.

Painting the exhaust during a detail, that's rich.

Could have been worse. He could have waxed the exhaust after he painted it. Or even worse popped your hood and painted the engine with that stuff. Sorry about what happened to your truck.
