Pads to use with Klasse?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if I could use Klasse All in One polish with the orange foam polishing pad that came with my Griot's Random Orbital kit. Also, if I were to apply Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze, could I use the red foam wax pad that came with my griots buffer? I am very new to polishing/waxing so i'm not certain if I need to purchase separate buffer pads for these products.

Thanks for your time,

I think that orange pad is a polishing pad, and if so, it should be ok. I recommend not using the polisher to apply the sealant, though. That goes better by hand.

IME the orange Griot's pad works OK with KAIO, but I dunno about trying that combo on *very* soft paint. I'd expect the red pad to soak up too much KSG and I'd only apply that stuff via machine with the gold LC pad (I always to it by hand myself).

Well since you're supposed to rub it on a bit for it's cleaning properties, I would think that a finishing pad (red?) would be great. I didn't have my machine back when I did a couple cars with the KAIO, but if/when I do it again I'll be using one of my LC finishing or finessing pads. If it doesn't do enough you can always move up the a harder polishing pad IMO.

Passrat- I find the Griot's orange is a zero-cut pad (in-and-of itself) on medium and hard paints and I like the more open porosity for use with KAIO. Just a personal preference perhaps, but I simply don't like using KAIO with "tight" and soft finishing pads. Kinda surprising how strongly I feel about it! Sure not like everybody has to agree with me though :chuckle:

I tried KAIO with a grey LC finishing pad on the hood of my black 2008 civic with my PC and it covered the hood in rediculous halos. I went back and removed the halos with I believe Menzerna Final Polish. That was a long time ago. I never tried KAIO by machine again.

I bet they were "psuedo holgorams". The KAIO/LC gray combo should've been functionally nonabrasive (even on Honda clear), but an uneven/otherwise messed up application of most anything can make it *look* very much like holograms. Gotta watch that you don't overwork KAIO when doing it by machine.

The FP was probably cleaning off the messed up KAIO more than correcting messed up paint. But that's just an educated guess....

I like KAIO with white pads and believe it or not, orange. Even on soft paint orange pads with AIO left a great finish..
