Pads for the Flex?

I'm ordering my FLEX DA any hour here yet I'm not sure what pads I need for it. Can I get the 5.5 inch pads or do I have to get the 6.5? Any help would be great!
 
Seing as the backing plate is 150mm (in Europe anywas, should be the same in the states) a 5.5" would be to small, a 6.5" is perfect since it's about 165mm and flex says 160mm is the largest you should use.
 
you need a min 6" pad, and even that is cutting it close. the measurement of the backing plate diameter is exactly 5.5". I have some 5.5" pads and they fit on the backing plate exactly, but i would NEVER buff with them. I purchased the LC 6.5" ccs pads and they are the perfect size for the flex backing plate imo.

Awesome! I'm gonna buy quite a few pads. Right now I have a bunch of 4" pads for my PC that I can only use with the PC now or the rotary but I'm beginning to use my PC as just a carpet scrubber. Hopefully someone will come out with a smaller backing plate for the Flex so I can use my 4" pads with it...

I bought my flex in Germany, my backing plate is excatly 128 mm, = 5,04 inch.



It sems that the backingplate size varies.

Also Obak...there was an "in between" release of a 5" backing plate here in the states as well. A few in the US have it. It was released as a fix for the orig red velcro 6" BP that was failing; but ultimately Flex settled with the 5.5" BP everyone is getting now and I believe they discontinued the 5". I'm not sure if your 5" BP is the same as the 5" BP that a couple have here in the US.
 
Are CSS 5.5 Black pads almost the same as the CSS 5.5 Blue Pads? This is what a vendor said to me, "Just so you know we are shipping blue and white pads now. Blue and Black are virtually the same."
 
*VIRTUALLY* the same is correct, the SAME no, black at least for the 6.5 and 7.5 sizes has very very slight bite to it where blue is considered a "lsp pad".
 
With a 5.5" backing plate you'll need to hit it dead center every time with 6" pads and no room for error. I would want 6.5" pads myself.
