These are just the other pads





I am trying to decide which one to get.



Either the 3m pads or meguiars pads







and would it be good or bad to mix pads and polishes.



Example:





If i were to get the meguiars pads would it be good to use 3m polishes?









*I did not want to make too many threads so I am trying to cram a lot in this one. *







For using rotary buffers, what do I need exactly.



I have heard of velcro backing plates, rubber ones, I am not sure what I need exactly?





I need some PRO ADVICE only.



Because I will be buying these products based upon YOUR information and Guidance.





Please put careful thought into this one. How much experience have you pros had?

With regards to pads, Meguiars or 3M are quality pads. The waffle pattern of 3M might be better for Rotaries as they tend to disappate heat better. For a dual action, that isn't a concern.



Mixing products/pads. No issue.



As for the rotary. 2 approachs.



1st. Get a pad that comes with a backing plate attached to it so it attached directly to the rotary.



2nd. (Better option) - Get a velcro backing plate i.e W-64 (Meguiars) or Hook It (not the II version) from 3M. Then get velcro backed Pads and you're all set.



I'd get the 6" Pads with a 5 or 6" velcro backing plate. The 8" are a bit harder to control.



Make sure to get a cutting pad and a polishing pad. It's also suggested to get 2-3 of each so that you don't mix the different products on different pads as it could potentially interferene with the performance of the product.

a pad is a pad, and just because it is a 3M pad, menas you can use ANY polish with it. THe thing to remember is to use only one product per pad, so set 2 aside for heavy compunding, 2 for light compounding, 2 for glazing, and so on.

I think most people here do this before offering advice.



Also, if you are having a hard time deciding on pads or what to attach them to and such, are you sure you want to try a rotary buffer? What is it you are trying to accomplish? Maybe a safer random-orbit buffer might be a better approach?

I thought by spacing that it would help organize things I have said better. Than just having lots of ongoing sentences continuously. I am trying to be as clear as possible.
