Pad that comes with the PC

Is the white pad that comes with the PC good for anything or should I just toss it? If anything it feels like a cutting pad - but maybe not...
 
Not true, I know two people who have. It's not bad, much like a polishing pad. I think Black240SX meant bonnet, not sure what a botten is. Actually make that three, I know of a professional detailer who broke his backing plate and had to get a pad quick so he went and picked on up at a store to quickly finish up.
 
I've used the one that came with my PC on 2 cars now (mine and my dad's). The plastic backing section started eating through the pad though and the pad is pretty much done for now. I'm ordering the SFX pads now and am hoping they do a better job of clean-up on the marring.
 
Thanks, maybe I'll try it on a panel and see how it goes. I can always finish down with the better pads that I have. Durability isn't really a concern because it won't break my heart to toss it if it starts to separate.

whats the aggressive rating on that pad? doesnt' it make a big difference to know what it's suppsed to be doing? i woudl assume it would be just a finish pad?
 
Oh and for what it's worth....don't use that pad on Speed 6. When I kicked it up to speed 6 I literally saw pieces of the pad flying off.
 
I have found the white pad to be perfect for two uses.



1) It is an EXCELLENT pad for using glass/window polish like Autoglyms and Sonus' glass polish.



2) Like Kenobi said said, put a microfiber bonnet on it and use it to remove wax or polish.
 
It's a perfectly good polishing pad, just not as convenient as a flexible hook 'n loop (velcro) system.

The bonnet idea is also good, except for 'chucking' back and forth.



One caution: The first or second time I used the PC, I made the mistake of lifting the PC off the car before stopping it and the pad flew off it's backing - not really damaged, just unglued. Sits there as I haven't explored the proper adhesive to use and since then bought the aforementioned hook 'n loop and Wolfgang pad assortment.

Do you have any idea of what abrasive level the PC-provided pad is? I thought it was useless so I got the bright idea of using it to wrap my bonnets instead of buying another pad just for that or doubling up another pad's job. It works really well.





:chuckle: I did that twice on accident. The first time the pad flung off about 5 feet and luckily landed on the other end of the car without splattering :whew:. The second time was today...I was using XMT Finishing Glaze and I thought I heard someone yell my name, and so I turned my body, and my hands went with...I ended up with a pretty purple swoosh of glaze across my crotch.
