Hey guys I'm new to rotary polishing and I've decided to go with a Makita and a 3m perfect it backplate. The only question is what size pads to go with and what specific types ie edge, lake country ccs, dd uber pads? The products I will be using are optimum polish II, Compoound II, Poli-seal and finish. I've used there products with great results. I used to have a da flex and now I'm jumping on to the rotory polishing. Thanks in advance for the help and advice.

Any help here guys? I've looked at lake country, uber, and 3m pads. Any reccommendation guys? I'm going to be making my order soon so any help would be appreciated.

I just ordered my Makita with pads, I got the Uber pads in 5.5" and 4", with the exception of orange because I heard it was too stiff, so I got some Meguiars Soft Buff cutting pads instead. Also got some PFW from LC, and

I work with honda and toyota paints so is the pfw going to have too much cut?

There are so many pads you can use its almost mind spinning. 5.5 or 6.5 fit nicely on the 3M backing plate, but if you want to use anything smaller, then you will need to use a smaller BP. Also PFW works great and many chose it as an alternative to LC's orange foam, your 3M BP will work fine for 6.5" PFW.

If you plan on using other wool pads like Megs yellow or burgundy wool just use the BP that comes with the Makita.

I assume that your currently have 5.5-6.5" pads right now because you already have a flex? Those pads will work just fine on a 3M BP.

Sweet thanks. I sold my flex with all my polishes and pads. I'm going to be starting fresh and I've see so many pads that it confuses me. I know it's all in the prep work but man I want to make sure I get good products.
