Pad and polish selection?

Alright I've got my PC on the way with yellow, orange, white and grey pads. For my polishes I have DACP, Meguiars SFP, 3M fine cut, 3M SMR for dark and VM.

I'm just curious as to what I can use the SFP for, can I use it to remove fine swirls and micrmarring or is it follow up to DACP for haze?

And do you think VM would be a good follow up to DACP instead of SFP?

What is the big difference between the orange and yellow pads? Which do you prefer both are considered cutting pads?

Thanks for any help!:up

true blue blood - Can't help with much the pads, I've only used the yellow, white, and gray ones, not the orange. The yellow are true cutting pads, the orange are supposedly in between yellow and white.

The SFP is for removing fine marring- like light swirls or the haze from DACP (basically the same thing). The VM would *not*, IMO, be a substitute for the SFP; the abrasives in VM are *very* fine, enough so that you might not notice them at all.

From what I have seen, the DACP with a polishing pad is pretty close to the SFP with the orange pad. The DACP seems to clean a little better than the SFP though. If you have #80 available to you, I would go #83 with the polishing or power pad (orange) and then #80 with the polishing pad and then whatever you want to protect with. I would only use the power pad with the #83 if you have some pretty good swirls. If the swirling is light, I would go with the #83 and the polishing pad and then finish with your topper or if you would like a real nice finish you could use the #82 with a finishing pad and then your choice of finishing.

I hope that wasn't confusing.
