I stripped the truck today and started to get it ready for the winter. I did the interior and exterior and finished up with a coat of UPGP.

Question is I plan on adding a few additional coats. One more Sunday. The car will be sitting out tonight. Plan on spray and wipe wipedown and then adding another coat. It this OK or should I re wash it 2 BM? My goal is UPGP 4X over 2 weekends, then top with 3 x IW845 to be Kool until mid March.

The spray and wipe down should be fine. But I do agree that that many coats is more then you need. After a certain number of coats, there is no more protection being added. Two - Three coats should be fine.

Personally I think you are going way overboard with that many layers but it should be fine to just wipe down without the 2 bucket wash.

Its a 2001-2002 truck and the paint look very good. I live very close to the water and they winter in NY takes its toll. I am not sure if its my winter regimine or maybe I am just lucky but the UPGP takes me 15 minutes to do the whole car so its no big deal. The 845IW is pretty easy also. Once the car is clean, its fast and I plan on keeping the truck until it causes me problems.

This is an area where I am the black sheep.

I had 50 coats of Zaino on my black Grand Prix and never had to polish it in over 3 years. No swirls. How is that possible? Proper washing, super soft microfibers, lots of layers. That's the only way I can explain it.

But most people in the detailing community disagree with me on this.

You should be fine with what your doing JSFM35X, 2 coats of sealant and 2 coats of Collinite wax with proper washing techiques during the winter when you can.
