P21S Wheel Gel leaving stains?

So I ordered some P21S wheel gel and was excited to try it out. Sprayed in on the faces of my wheels and let it sit for about 20 minutes or so. I then rinsed it off and it left run marks that were lighter colored than the rest of the wheel. I sprayed on another coat and scrubbed with a wheel brush and still stains...

Has it done this to anyone else? I thought this was a non acidic non alkaline formula that you could let sit on a wheel all day and it wouldn't even hurt the finish?

I haven't had that issue yet. I just cleaned a set of chrome wheels and the only problem I had was water spots. (I didn't dry them soon enough). I let the P21s Gel sit for 5-10 minutes.

20 minutes seems like a long time to let an aggressive product like that sit.

I only let my wheel brightener sit for about 20 seconds on my chrome rims.

P21s is probably one of the gentlest wheel cleaners on the market. It's non acidic. It's an alkaline cleaner if I remember right.

^^^^ +1

I've yet to have any problems concerning P21s gel, and I've let it sit for 15 minutes or so. It claims on the bottle that you can let it sit for up to two hours, I believe. It's very gentle, like Fluxy said.

BUMP! What he said.

Sometimes I wonder if people even read the whole post.

yeah.... Since the directions say you can let it sit for 2 hours I figured I'd be fine... Looks like it bleached the finish slightly like an acidic wheel cleaner...

I sprayed the wheels with cold water for about 2 minutes each to cool them down in the wash bay (my buddy works there and turns the bay on without coins for me). Sprayed, let sit while I rinsed the car, then rinsed the wheels and thats what I found. Maybe I didn't let them cool enough but they were cool feeling to the touch...

who knows

Sometimes, P21S TAW does something similar. Usually its occurs after the lack of a thorough rinse. Possibly your lug nut areas released some solution and it dried. Hit a small area with an AIO to see if that removes it.

And post pictures of course.

I have been using P21s Gel wheel cleaner for the last 10 years and it has never stained any of my wheels. I even had it sit for 1 hr on some very dirty wheels. Are you sure the stains were not already there but were covered by brake dust?

I've experience a white haze on paint after using TAW to pre-rinse, and IIRC it was easily removed with an AIO.
