P21S vs. Sonax...

I have been using SONAX for a year now, and it's very safe and effective. You can give it to anyone and not be afraid of damaging anything.

Has Sonax ever damaged any of the aftermarket or high end wheels that you have used it on...polished aluminum, chrome, powder coated, etc?

Each seems like they have totally different cleaning chemistry. I never liked P21S that much and the Sonax stuff looks really interesting.

At the moment, SONAX is my favourite.

Very effective, but it stinks. Smells like ammonia.

If you use very expensive multi-coated lenses on your spectacles, remove your glasses first. If tiny speckles of this liquid hits your spectacles, your lense will be permanently damaged. You'll see lots of pitting on your lense. Don't ask me how I know!!! LOL!

Better wear a mask, or just don't breathe too deeply when working with this stuff. Totally harmless, and produces superb results.

Then, I'll follow up with Amrmour All's Wheel Coating (aerosol). Just spray liberally to cover rim. Don't touch. Wait 1 hr, and it's done. So much less adhesion of brake dust. Hugely noticeable improvement.

I'm surprised to see so many people who think p21s is overrated. It's a safe medium strength cleaner at a premium price.

I think you've got to split the two sets of users:

  • home user, weekly care
  • production environment user

P21S is a 1st class cleaner for wheels that have been cared for.

If I were in a production environment, and working on wheels that haven't been cleaned for 6 months or longer, P21S would not be my first choice. One would clearly need something with more horsepower than that.

Another excellent wheel cleaner for wheels that are weekly-maintained would be AG's product. It's about $60 for 5L, cleans better than P21S and does a great job on rubber. Griot's would be another in this league, $30 for 1 gallon.
