P21s Gel wheel cleaner sprayer

So I got some P21s Gel wheel cleaner to try out the other day and I am not fully impressed. While the cleaning properties were great, I was very disappointed with the sprayer. It only comes out as a steady stream. It in no ways "mists" like the directions on the bottle say to use it, just this pitiful little squirt. I have tried turning the nozzle tip is many different ways, but it doesn't seem to affect the spray pattern in the slightest.

I did notice that the tube that goes from the sprayer into the bottle seems a little long and pushes all the way on the bottom of the bottle, but I've tried moving it around and it still seems to have no affect.

I've searched and haven't noticed anyone else mentioning this problem, so I think it is something wrong with my sprayer (or maybe technique?). Pointer or ideas from any of you guys?

I suppose worst case scenario I could just switch to a different bottle.

Other people have complained about this same problem. A different chemical-resistant bottle would be the next option I suppose..or a different sprayer.

thats the only down side.

You should first spray the wheel with a quick lubricant (I lube everything I clean) and then squirt the p21s onto a foam sponge and cover the wheel with it. Make sure to get the inside barrel of the wheel. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then spray the wheels. My 18" Carrera 5 spokes come out nice and clean. But I also do secondary cleaning with a spoke brush and get the backside of the wheel center and the lug holes.

and of course don't do this while the rotors are hot.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. The sprayer is really annoying though, so I think I will try another sprayer/bottle. It's funny how the instructions say mist and then the sprayer won't do it!

It does have good cleaning power though, and I will likely rebuy this stuff.

Thanks

I use this product a lot and I believe you may have a defective sprayer. Their sprayer is one of the better ones I have actually. It sucks so well that sometimes the sides of the bottle gets sucked in and I have to unscrew the top to relieve pressure but the product/flow stream is very good.

P21S is a gentle but effective cleaner. It's engineered to cling to the wheel well but I have found that agitating with a wheel brush (I use Oxo or sheepskin) helps a lot.

I'm sorry you are having trouble...

The gel formula doesn't mist because of the viscosity. I've reused the P21s bottle for other cleaners. Perhaps diluting some of the gel solution in another bottle for frequently cleaning would be a good move. And then use the undiluted p21s for a thorough cleaning.

The wheels are easily the area I spend the most time cleaning.

love the stuff, I usually just buy the 5 liter refill and fill different bottle, the sprayer it comes with should work fine.

Try putting it in another bottle. Hopefully the bottle/sprayer doesn't discourage you from using the product.

You must have to screw it almost all the way closed to get it to mist. The gel WILL mist. I got tired of the crappy bottles so I used an empty Griots bottle and have no problems!

Thanks for the tips guys! I will try screwing it in all the way again and see if that helps. I think I'm going to use the regular stuff instead of gel next time (although I'm not 100% decided) as my wheels don't get extremely dirty.

I haven't been discouraged from the product at all, so don't worry about that. I like it's cleaning abilities a lot.
