P085RD vs P016FF

I'm looking into getting one of these for christmas. I'm also wanting to try out the rest of the menzerna line and get IP and FPII. If i get one of the above two, is buying FPII necessary? To anyone that has used both P08RD and P016FF, is there a difference between the finish that both gives? I know everyone talks about how great P085RD is, but I don't hear much about the other. Will they both finish the same and is the only difference between the two that P016FF can remove worse defects than the P085RD?

From you other posts I know you already use OCC. So I would just start with PO85RD and go from there. I really dont think you would need anything else......My apologies to Menzerna for not selling more product.

Apparently the only difference between the two is the cut. PO106FF has more cut 2.5/5 compared to PO85RD which is only 1.5/5. I was originally not sure which one to get, but i've read from a couple members that the PO85RD finishes a little nicer than PO106FF. I eventually found someone to trade some other stuff with for some PO85RD, so that ultimately made up my decision.

I haven't used PO106FF, so I could be wrong. Those opinions we're from people using it via PC, not rotary. Take it for what its worth.

I know that I'm an Optimum user, and I have no problems with what the polish and the compound can do, I'm just getting a little agitated with the amount of time that it's taking to achieve those results. I know that this extended time period is mostly due to me being PC user, and I should upgrade to a rotary if I want to move along faster, but I don't think that I'm ready quite yet to make that leap. Menzerna products have been highly spoken of on here and they have a shorter time needed to take out defects so I just wanted to try them out.

Thanks for the replies guys, I think that I'm just going to pick up some PO85RD (if I can find it lol) and try it out. I think I'll also try and find people that can give me some samples of the other menzerna polishes and see how they are.

EDIT:

Ah something else I forgot to ask. I know that the two products in question are made for the ceramiclear coats but work for conventional clearcoats also. Are they supposed to be used in a different way than conventional polishes like optimum, ssr's, #83/0, etc or is just the same prime the pad and then use 3-4 extra dots of polish when u move to a new area?

I thought you were supposed to prime the pad with polish... I always used a ring of polish on the outside of the pad for the first 2x2 area and then 3-4 dots of polish for every new area after that. I know misting the pad with water/QD will extend the work time slightly, but I never heard about it helping to prime the pad.

check my other thread but PO85RD is being discountinued!!!!!!!!!! PO106FF is what will stay in its place. Spoke to MeznernaUsa today. They said they are to similar of products and redundent so PO85RD is getting kicked due to the fact that PO106FF gives the same finish and is more versitile. Im gonna try and get some PO85RD before its gone to try. By the way none of this was directly said this was determined through the round about answers I was given to questions. So this is my interpation and should not be taken as Meznerna said. Chris

If that is the case I just got my order of PO85RD and PO106FF yesterday. glad I started my group buy and pick up a few Q's. looks like everybody that got in on it with me will be pleased as well. as in life this is a classic case of " timing is everything "

Will PO85RD and/or PO106FF have greater effectiveness on hard clears like audi, vw, single stage whites, etc than conventional polishes? I've got a VW beetle here that has some pretty bad swirls that I need to take care of and I from experience with it before that vw clear is a pita to work with on a pc lol.

Personally I like to do a little Cyclo cooking with orange pads and DACP for PITA swirls.

But, a rotary and PO85Rd stands a chance. PC is going to take some experimenting with pads a work time. Be better off with something stronger with the PC. I have had no problems with micromarring using PC and white pads though.

bah! I was afraid that you were going to say that. I've been looking at a Makita but I didn't want to go there just yet. Maybe early next year lol. If I got a backing plate to fit the Makita, would my 6.5" LC pads work on the rotary or should I buy different ones?

They should..just measure your velcro. I am partial to 5" plates but thats just me. I would also read up on Metabo (TOL). Very light compared to others. After you read then google it and find dealers. I have seen it for 220.00. Just a thought.

I haven't had problems using a PC and 106FF. Works great with a polishing pad. If I want more cut I'll use a denser pad but may have to follow that with a finishing/polishing pad to make it flawless. With a polishing pad... I can go straight to an LSP.

When was this group buy? Can I still get a group buy price?

I actually started a group buy on P085RD and P016FF about 2 weeks ago. placed the order and am in the process of splitting up the goods between the parties involved.

I think this was a great idea and feel all the parties involved will be happy they got involved. I did all the leg work and ordering. maybe somebody else can start a new group buy on this or another product as well ?
