P085RD and PO106FF now available

The before condtion was good. I had polished it with FP II and topped with WG and Natty's. 3 months later it was time to detail it again. There was very light swirling on it, but not much, it was only washed a couple of times in the 3 months.



The paint didn't look like that for sure. It was in good shape, but no where near as wet and glossy. The PO85RD is very nice to work with. The way I can describe that I like it is when you are polishing with it, you can kind of see the results even before removing it with a towel. You can just see the intense shine even through the residue, then when you wipe off, you are just amazed.



PO85RD is the one I would recommend to everyone, especially if you like FP II. It is a little bit more glossy that FP II and just as easy, if not easier to work with. PO85RD will remove light swirls. I did a test on my father's car with a polishing pad, worked the product just like you should, and the lights swirls were gone. Sure there were some heavy swirls, but this product is not aggressive enough. Get the PO85RD, you won't regret it!



As for the PO106, they say it's the same polish just with a more concentrated amount of abrassives. But in my intances with it, it doesn't leave the finish quite like 85RD. It leaves what I would consider like an FP II finish, nice clean sharp look. It just doesn't finish with that blow you away finish of the 85RD.



In the end Caraman, that finish on the Accord, it didn't look anywhere near how it looks in those pics before I got started. Sure it looked "good", but after using the 85RD, it was stunning.
 
I have the same camera as O4Cobra, just in the 3.3 MP version. Tons of settings, that once you get the hang of...work great!

I'll chime in here about PO85RD and PO106. Deanski was the first to post here about the two and I didn't really grab an interest. I *used* to think "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". However, once trying these polishes, I started to, and still do, expand my horizons on every product category.



The polishes work easier than FP/FPII and produce a higher gloss level than both as well. The thing I liked most about them was how FLAWLESS they polished out to. With other polishes via rotary and polishing pad, it was hard to get rid of micro-marring/hologramming. However, with these, even on the softest of paint (Acura/Honda), they polished to an absolute PERFECT, SWIRL FREE shine even in dead-on-direct sunlight.



If I had to re-do my polish arsenal, I would stock Menzerna Powergloss, Intensive Polish, PO106, PO85RD and be done with it :).

Part of the high price is the 32 oz. size, so if you can split it with someone, then maybe it's more affordable. However, you can probably also use this as your finishing polish for a variety of LSPs, so it might be handy to keep 32 oz. around.
 
Yeah handy to keep 32 oz around, will last you a while if your only doing your cars even you routinely need it for spot polishing.
 
Got some on the way, can't way to try it.



Any reason for concern when using this polish on regular, non cerami-clear paint? Even though it is rated as a lower cut than FPII, could it have a higher cut on standard paint?
 
The main difference between PO106 and PO85RD is that the first one is a litle more abrasive. PO85RD produces the best finish I've ever seen and I use it imediatly after the IP. Here in Europe it's called Final Finish, and we have new botles too ;)

I did notice on my bottle that it said a 1 year shelf life and I only do my car, so unfortunately I can't stock up. Grt product though...
 
Does PO85RD and PO106FF require a wet/damp mf to remove like PG and IP and FP II or does it require a dry removal?
 
Damp cloth for IP and FPII? Have I been using it incorrectly?



I've always used a dry MF unless I was having trouble getting it off, and then a slightly damp towel helped.

Yes the 1yr shelf life bothered me a little because 1. It's a big bottle, so it's gonna last me awhile and 2. I got it in February, but it does'nt have a born on date on it so I actually don't know when it was made. I'm sorta taking a crapshoot assuming it was made in February just because I received it in February. The price we pay for the cutting edge products I guess...
 
I'm surprised there's a 1 year expiration date. In fact, this the first time I've heard of such a thing for a polish. I guess the ingredients are so different and so time sensitive. ( also why expensive?) I have plain FP that's 2 years old, it seems to perform fine. :nixweiss
 
Armed with that, I would have to charge enough extra for polishing the ceramiclear finishes to recoup my costs in say, 2-3 jobs to be on the safe side.
 
My bottle of P085RD arrived yesterday. I've wanted to try this product for over a year. Despite the rainy conditions in the NE, I decided to give it a shot on the hood of our Tahoe. I S&W'd the hood, taped her off and applied my first coat. If you have ANY fill in your paint, kiss it good bye. I had a few decent scratches, so I decided on a pass of IP before continuing on. This cleared up the the scratch problem.

The first 2 shots are after 2 passes of P085RD, the 3rd shot is after 1 pass. I use 50/50 mix of water and isopropyl alcohol to wipe off the residue. I applied it using a rotary with an Edge2000 blue polishing pad. I misted my pad lightly with S&W, applied 2 nickle size drops on the pad, wiped the polish on the surface to lube the pad and started out at 1000, then finished at 1700. I did not experience any dusting at all. The polish breaks down (almost disappears) quick.



If it's nice over the weekend, I'll take some better shots in the sun. In person, the hood was glowing. The best it's ever looked.



I noticed the 1 year shelf life on the label too (as posted above). That's a bummer, because I had hoped to save my P085RD for my cars only.
 
I spoke with Menzerna's Jeff Silver last week and was told not to worry about the 1-year expiration on the new CCC polishes. He told me that he is still using a PO85RD bottle that is 2 years old and it still works fine. Why the 1-year date is on the label I didn't ask. Maybe a new gov't regulation.
