Oxidized, swirly Red 92 GSR

That's an impressive work you have done on the GSR, now the car looks brand new with a very wet and shiny look on it, well done :bigups .

I'm just curious why AIO was used before a polish was used  . AIO is non abrassive.

Weeell, that is not true. It has one micron abrasive particles (original formula). So, technically, it is not just a chemical cleaner.

And as metal says, it does wonders on oxidation BEFORE deep polishing.

I see, but if your going to deep polish why would you want to light polish first. If I am removing deep swirl marks I wouldn't do a light polish first to remove minor swirls. I've also never had oxidation cake up a pad. Just my 2 cents worth.

The oxidation itself can be so nasty (especially on SS) that it is recommended to remove it before the actual polishing takes over. With this method, there are less chance to clog/cake the pads and the compounds can work more effectively. Doing a good light abrasive/chemical cleaning with a terry bonnet or (when the paint condition requires it) wool pad can be beneficial indeed.

Thanks for the explanation. I guess I've just never seen paint oxidized to that point.
