Oxidation

Hello,



I have been lurking here for a while and finally decided to join. I have a 91 BMW M5 in the Brilliant Red color. It is a single stage paint. There is a fair amount oxidation throughout the car. I have a PC 7424 and have used Menzerna IP to try to polish out some of the oxidation. I have gotten rid of some of it but there are still some tough spots that are bugging me. Should I step up to the Menzerna Power Gloss compound? Or what other products can you recommend for removing severe oxidation? Thanks for your help!
 
Menzerna Power Gloss or Meguiars M105 Compound is what I would choose. When your working with the PC & a compound, crank up the PC full bore, speed 6. Go very very slow back and forth working the product in and allowing it to break down properly. Put light downforce down on the machine for the first few passes to create some heat. Then ease up as you go.



Make sure your using a cutting pad like Meguiars M7207 or pad of your choice. A cutting pad is usually very stiff and will create some heat with the PC to get the compound to break down. To really get the full benefit of a compound, you need to use a more powerful machine such as a Flex3401 or a rotary. The PC will do a fine job though.
