Overspray From H*ll Coming This Weekend

Beemerboy

Just One More Coat
I was asked by this guy if I could get this over-spray off his jet black truck.

Here is what I am going to deal with. The last time that I did a job that was this bad, I used lacquer thinner but that's very aggressive on the paint, but highly effective.

Any suggestions on chemical and or processes would be helpful, I'm going to have to bring out all the toys for this one.

The painted part I feel very comfortable with but the plastic fender covers are another thing

Steve

Spray can of paint that he ran over

that stuff will come off pretty easy ... try a full strength APC wash first and then clay the paint and use a soft brush on the plastic ... now if that was road paint  I'd give the job to someone else :lol2:

The last one I did was road paint

Let us know what you did to get it off in the end. I have run into this from time to time and have not always run into full success.

Will do

This was the last time I encountered paint over spray at this level. This was white road striping paint...I used lacquer thinner on the painted parts, and a plastic brush and APC like a mad man on the plastic running boards

Prep sol or final sol will get it off easily and is a lot more forgiving than thinner is. I've used both on plastic and never had probs as long as its not rubbed vigorously.

MC...thanks is that something that I can get at Home Depot type of stores?

I would think Home Depot would have it. It would prob be with the mineral spirits and things like that. I get mine from Oreillys.

Thanks there is a big auto paint supplier in town might stop in there and see what they have. Last time I was there they had the purple clay for over spray removal..as I said all the toys have to come out on this one

Why not just have him run over another can of paint on the other side.. i kinda like the look it gave the truck ;)

That would be the best place to find it. Those guys might even have something better. Its definatly worth stopping by anyway.

if you are trying the claymajic purple that stuff is extremely abrasive ..remember the time i posted about detailing a black mercedes with it and jacked it all up and had to do a 3 stage with the rotary to fix the damage..look forward to the after pics dave i know you are up to the challenge ..

I think the above suggestions will work but if they don't acetone will.
Acetone dissolves paint soak a rag with it and wipe that paint right off.

As soon as you wipe it off flush with water from hose.

Use in well ventilated area and wear rubber gloves as acetone will be absorbed through the skin and it will destroy the liver.

I have used it before keep some on hand all the time nothing removes paint faster but it must be used with extreme caution.

Acetone does not work all that well on tar or undercoating but will remove paint in a heart beat.

IF LEFT ON VERY LONG IT WILL REMOVE THE CLEAR COAT. :passout:
