Our new Prius, freshly detailed!

I've had these pics for a while but haven't posted them. About 3 weeks ago we got a new Toyota Prius for my fiance, these pics were taken after its first detail. WGX2 and #16. Its a cool little car, talk about a lot of features for the money. Bluetooth phone, nav, keyless entry and start, bi-xenon lights all for 26k. She loves it, I'm still getting used to the styling..

Enjoy ;)

Here are both the cars outside the hotel in West Virginia. We had to drive all the way to Barboursville, WV (400 miles) to pick it up and avoid the 8 month waiting lists here in DC.

Steve, nice looking car. About this time, with gas prices rising, that Prius sure is looking good to me. LOL

Yeah really, 60MPG is nothing to scoff at LOL.

I like it until I get back in my car and then I remember why I bought the Lexus ;)

Lexus is coming out with a line of hybrids I might look into.

If you really want to add some bling, throw some 14's or even some 15's (if you are feeling crazy) on there.

Looks pretty easy to detail with lots of flat real estate to work with:up

Are you holding out for the 27 mpg RX deriviative or one of the car models?

LOL, believe it or not those rims are 15' already ;)

As for the RX400h (the RX hybrid) the scuttlebut is closer to 35MPG, but I'd definately be waiting for one of the cars.

That's amazing. Perhaps it's the vehicle's unmistakable resemblance to the incredible edible egg that makes them look smaller. The Accord is wearing 14's which makes Tire Purchase Day very pleasant.

Toyota is going after the hybrid in a big way. Beginning next spring you will be able to buy the Lexus RX400h and a Highlander hybrid. Toyota expects that 1/4 of their 2006 Camry's will be hybrid. They sell around 400,000 of these a year. They also said that their entire line will be hybrid by 2012.

Ford liked their hybrid stuff so much that they licensed it. The first Ford Excape SUV is expected soon.

And here is the one I'm waiting for.

I would have went with a Civic Hybrid because, well, I like how it looks like a normal car, and the 5 speed option breaks up the...blandness of driving a hybrid. But...good car none the less.

She likes unique cars, she didn't even drive the Civic one. Actually the Civic isn't a true hybrid like the Toyota because the electric motor and the gas motor are always running. The Toyota system shuts down the gas motor when idling and when cruising under 40MPH and it is totally electric making for much better gas mileage. Because of its lower gas mileage the Civic doesn't get as good a tax deduction ($1500 a year just to drive this thing and it was sales tax exempt!) and it isn't emissions testing exempt like the Prius. Plus the Civic doesn't have all the cool features like the keyless entry and start (only availiable on the LS430) bluetooth phone (only availiable on the LS430) voice activated nav, bi-xenon headlamps (only Toyota/Lexus with them), escaine/seuede seats (like on the Lexus IS), electric instrumentation, the feature content for the money is unreal. I agree with her, the only reason to buy the Civic hybrid is you don't have to wait 8 months, that and if you really can't stomach the Prius' styling. The two are just worlds apart in features, economy, quality, and fun gov't perks.

Plus she can't drive a stick ;)

very nice!!

Our family is considering getting rid of my dad's corolla and replacing it with the Prius. We can use it in the carpool lanes here!

I'm not a big fan of the styling, but the detail work looks nice.

I was laughing out when I noticed your defensive parking strategy in tha apt. parking lot.

Good luck getting one. It one of the hardest cars to get at sticker price. People right now are way over paying for that car.

How about that? LOL. We got there and the place was booked, every space was taken but these two. We argued for 20 minutes over who would get the inside space (you see who won lol). Thats pretty rough, the night you pick up your first brand new car (she's never had a new car before) you have to park it in a Hampton Inn parking lot in WV. That window you can see there was our room too so we were able to keep an eye on it lol

You can in VA too but unfortunately not in MD, in MD only natural gas vehicles can use the carpool lane.

Nice Ride, $26,000 seems like alot though. I guess thats with any car these days.

Not when you consider the features that thing has, my car cost $14,000 more and the Prius has more features. Its optioned like a 60k car. Plus they're sales tax exempt and the tax credit makes them very cost effective.

I know, a dealership here was asking $10k over MSRP for a demo with 4000 miles on it. My mom and dad are both from WV and I had a feeling that I could find one somewhere in WV and I was right, we only had to wait 2 weeks for this one, paid sticker, and she got to choose the color and package (which is unheard of).

I agree, but I thought manufacturers are still taking a loss on these cars at that price point. There is so much R&D and technology in these cars, that the actual price would make them unsaleable. I think I heard that about the initial Prius.

It will be a while before a hybrid is in my garage because I like to work on my cars, but I'm glad to see manufacturers putting out some good products.

Are those cars fun to drive?

i like how you said, "youre still getting used to the styling." the same goes for me. one of my friend's parents got one, and everytime i see it, i hesitate, however, i have no problems with the milage it gets. my friend's mom was telling me that before she had the prius, she was filling up 3 times as often in her minivan. interesting.

i like to joke with my dad that im gonna invent the first fuel efficent exotic car. :)

Another cool feature, the wheels have plastic trim rings around the edge that pop off so its impossible to curb the wheels. If you curb it, the trim just needs to be replaced for like $40.

We found that out today

Nice car pick up.

I just finished off my persuasive speech in class on why people should really consider a hybrid.

I've even convinced myself to get that Civic hybrid, also because of the 5 spd option.
