My first car was a 1971 Pontiac Grand Prix with a 455 cubic inch motor... rust bucket from Ohio. I restored & repainted it... then I bought my first "real" car: 1970 Pontiac Formula 400 with the Ram-Air 4 option. The car had 32,000 original miles in 1980, and as I was considering the price he was asking, the owner admitted that the car had seen rain TWICE.... SOLD!!!!!!!!! I later sold the car for College tutition.

From what I have read, a mint 1970 Ram-Air 4 is worth a fortune today.

Datsun 240 Z. Damn I miss that car. Stupid dad traded it for a station wagon. Oh well. The first car I ever bought and paid for myself was a 1994 Ford Probe.

'72 Plymouth Fury III. That sucker was BIG; everyone I knew in high school just referred to it as "the Boat". I swear I could have rented out the trunk to a family of four . . .

'77 Cutlass Supreme (260 cid V8) that was originally Gold but I had it repainted to Black Cherry. My parents bought it for my 19th Birthday. :D

Rusted fenderwells and an 8 track player in 1987. Had a 305 engine and I called her the "Firechicken". She lasted about 6 months of constantly laying rubber.:sosad

The year was 1980 and I paid $1000 for a 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo. It was really sedate looking with tan paint and a brown vinyl top. However it had a strong running 454 under the hood making it a great sleeper. Of course it handled like a cement truck but it sure went straight well.

1990 - bought a 1979 Z28 350 4-speed Black on Black leather (vinyl) with 8,302 original miles on it...the guy had a carpeted garage, ordered it new in 1979 and then never drove it. He had waxed it so much that the shine was blinding - no swirls...used Meguiar's #7 and gave me a case of it when I bought the car. I think I still have some in the garage!

Imagine the look on his face when an 18 year old kid with $6K in his pocket comes to buy his "baby"...he had a whole checklist of things I was supposed to do to it on a regular basis.

Next car was a 1993 Cobra - bought it new, first year at the dealership as a tech. I added 3.73 gears, headers, cat-back exhaust, larger MAF & Throttle body, Crane 1.72:1 roller rockers, MSD 6AL ignition box, K&N filter, sub-frame connectors, and strut brace. Fun car, sold it to an 18 year old kid with $25K in his pocket in 1997 when it had 8,500 miles on it...I gave him a check list too. Funny how things go full circle!

My first car was a 67 GTO. It had a fiberglass front clip. And the rest was mostly rust held together with red primer. The engine was the only good part of the car, a 400 H.O.

My first love was a 1993 Pontiac Le Mans 2 door hatchback. 4 speed. Red. I miss her. My very first veichle was a 1998 kasia 50B moped

An 86 Ford Crown Vic LTD Wagon...doesn't run...sat in the driveway for about a year...dry rot oval tires...not paid for yet...so i guess i don't own a first car...oh well, not owning a stationwagon is a big loss:rolleyes: .

The only good thing is it's a 5.0L V8 EFI...but i guess a land yacht needs a descent engine to get anywhere.

Edit: too tired...can't type right

My first car was a 1989 Alfa Romeo Milano Gold. I still have the car actually... it has since been converted to a dedicated race car with a full blown suspension, brake, & engine overhaul. I LOVE that car! It will always be in the family... it's not going anywhere!

Pictures of it are on my webpage http://www.fastalfas.com

An 82 Ford Crown Victoria - an old cop car - with a supercharged 5.7 liter engine (the 351 Windsor engine, for Ford fans).

The car was the greatest - still had the siren installed, and everywhere I went, people slowed down around me (not exactly a great undercover cop car). That car also would NOT die - too bad Ford doesn't make them like they used to. I once pierced the radiator hose and lost all the water on the highway - but managed to drive for at least 5-10 miles and got off at my normal exit, when the car eventually overheated.

Did everything to that car myself - oil changes, brake pads, head gaskets - nothing like a cheap car to liberate you from a mechanic. Wouldn't dare try that on any of my current cars, for fear of a big mechanics bill.

Funny - that car cost almost nothing, yet I almost cried like a baby when I had to hand it over (gas costs were just too high for a college guy living in the city). How many clunkers did I have afterwards that made me reminisce.

That's a bummer. I bet you'd be willing to pay a lot to have that car back. My dad owned an auto wrecking yard when I was growing up and he was going to put together my first car for me. I had a choice between a Fiat, 240Z, or Supra. These 3 were the only cars in his lot that actually had a chance at being rebuilt. The Fiat and the Z didn't work out, so I was left with my 3rd choice, the 1980 Supra.

1986 chevy S-10 Blazer 4X4 (the small style). It had a 6 engine and an auto tranny. It had BRIGHT RED single stage paint. Back in those days I used dupont #7 polish and NU FINISH on it, and it shined like crazy! They don't paint cars like they used to......LOL
