7) 1990 Geo Prizm (beater/Winter car)

10) 1999 Lexus LS400 (purchased 2/28/02)

My first ever car was actually my fathers 1984 Mercedes 500SEL. It was in smoke silver & had all black leather seats. I used the car when taking my driving test. Although I failed the test, I passed the second time around. I realy loved that car and it was later given to me as a present.I kept it until 1988 and bought a 1980 Silver Shadow fixed head coupe which was in navy blue.Since then, I have dabbled with a wide range of cars in the Bentley and Rolls Royce range, and will continue to do so. The overall quality of a Bentley today is unmatched by any other car maker in the world.

I wish that I could see what that Mercedes looks like today, it could look great, it may look bad, then again it could be scrapped, i guess i will never find out. Oh well, look to the future that what i say.

i bought my first car at a yard sale for $700...a 79 bmw 30I..spedo didnt work and odometer stopped rolling at 355k...had it for a while till i got hi by a cop...those hydrolic bumpers still worked well as it sent the crused into a telephone pole:xyxthumbs

1954 Ford. Medium blue, 6 cyl, overdrive. Had a vacuum powered Wolf whistle! Paid $35 for it and drove it for 3 years, including the summer when I was 16 and worked construction building bridges on the interstate, driving over 125 miles a day to work and back. It even received a 292 ci with dual quad carb transplanted engine until I blew that up and put the 6 banger back in it, drove it for another year. The thing ended up in a big ditch at a buddy's pig farm, and used as a parts source for my "new" $75 car, a mint green 4 door '54 Ford with a 239ci V8 that I drove until I went on a government sponsored vacation in the far east (Viet Nam). The last Ford I owned was my first NEW car, a '74 Pinto "fire-bomb" that I bought to impress my first wife, the one that rewarded me by taking everything I owned except the shirt on my back. But ha ha, she got the Pinto (I think that makes me the winner!).

1969 Chevrolet Bel Air 3 speed on the column with an aftermarket air conditioner and 8 track stereo. I sure did have some fun in that car.

1987 Honda Accord S which was the 2 door hatch version here in Canada.

My wife and I camped with it for a number of years.

Great car - lots of '80 vintage Honda's on the thread.

Here's another vote for both the ubiquitous Chevy Chevette (or the 'Vette as I joked to friends :D) and a vintage '82 Honda Accord. Both hand-me-downs.

The Chevette was an automatic-leashed dog and the definition of cheap. The only thing it did well was start when warmed up (1/2 second twist w/ key starts it).

The Accord was light-years better and my first pleasant to drive car. It also got me hooked on stick shifts after swearing by automatics, :p thus leading to my current car. I just wished it had better corrosion resistance.

My first car was a 64 ford galaxie 500 ,was a very nice car, the car i drive today is a 93 vw corrado 65000 mi. I doubt i will ever get rid of my corrado. I have had many cars between these two only one of which i miss, that was a 59 Studebaker Silver Hawk loved that car.

My first car was a 1972 Chevy Nomad. That was the station wagon version of the Chevette. It had standard transmission - three speed on the steering column. It was an ugly brown rust bucket, but I got it for $300. No one, not even mechanics, believed me that it didn't have automatic transmission until I would point at the clutch. But I hated its emergency brake. It was the kind you have to use your foot to set. It was useless for starting on a hill. The release was a handle that you turned and then it just let go completely. I learned a lot of routes home that didn't involve traffic lights on hills. ;)

Other than polishing, what do you spend the most time on?

Washing, interior, wax/sealants, engine, trunk/door jambs, undercarriage/wheel wells, wheels/tires?

For me, it has to be wheels and tires! If they look good, the car looks great!

(Sorry, I just realized I don't have a category for "Other"... )~X(

I'm still learning how to get the insides clean in a reasonable timeframe - need to learn some more tricks from Nick
