OT. sorry,What are the safest and or softest car covers?

I feel your pain. Two years of road work on my street have turned my apt. complex's indoor parking garage into a permanent hazy concrete cloud.

I can write "wash me" in the dust on my car's paint less than 4 hours after having completely detailed it.

My take on the matter is to leave the dust settle through the day(pardon the pun) and then CCD the car. I think the car cover manipulation will cause more harm than good on a daily basis, especially if you're alone putting it on. You're bound to put it on the car where there's dust and grime one day and then drag the whole thing across your trunklid while removing it. :(

It sounds like your surface is well protected with Zaino, this should prevent airborne contaminants from bonding into the paint. Break out the trusty ol'CCD to pick them up every day just before leaving work and you should be fine.

I usually unlock my car, enter it without touching the paint, start it up to let the fluids get moving and then proceed to CCD it. I admittedly don't hit it with QD every day, I'll save that for the odd day I have more time, or if I'm going some place special.

Just my own little habits, from someone who sees his detail job ruined every single morning. Hope this helps!

I'm not sure what to tell you Bruce. My C32 is solid black, and has no swirls from the CCD. Can you explain how you use it? Perhaps the techinique involved is subtle, just it certaintly works.

Justin,

I have only tried it on my black 528 a couple of years ago. To my recollection I simply layed it on the surface and dusted the car. I tried trhe link supplied to see what I may be doing wrong. Perhaps it has to do with letting the dust stay on to long and bond with the paint. Idinno. I experience the same problem when I Qd. So either my technique is really bad or your all nuts! I know I know, it's me.

So until I solve my dilema I will wash with water THEN Qd.

Thank you all so very much;

Bruce

Lots of others here will know lots more than I, but ... The first time I used the CCD, I used it like a rag, letting as much of the material as possible contact the car. But an experienced detailer was nearby and chastized me immediately: "NONONO!" Apparently, you're just supposed to have the least amount of contact possible -- just barely touch the surface of the car. Think of the CCD as a magnet, not a rag.

Or something like that. :nixweiss
