Opti Coat Pro Certified
So this car was in need of some TLC it was in really ruff shape Rids, swirls, buffer halo's, some sub par body work where it got hit one time or another. All in I spent about 20 hours on this 14 on just paint. There were places on this car that read silly thin so I had to be super careful. Some one really had at this car with a rotary so I was only able to get about an 80% correction safely. Here's how it went down!
Foamed with APC and Dawn
Wash using the normal 2x2 method with Pearl wash and Microfiber mit
Decon 3m perfect it clay
lots of 3m green tape
The whole car was corrected using my dewalt 849x(I've been a rotary snob lately, both of my flex's have dust on them lol)
I used a combo of Menz SIP 6.5 CCS orange pad and SRC Finishing polish 6.5 white CCS pad depending on how the area's were. Most the correction was carried out with Menz SIP. After all the major correction was done I did go around the car one more time with a gray CCS pad SRC Finishing. I was going to do some jeweling but I ran out of time and the customer was sitting around the coner the last hour I was working on it.
And this is the first time I used Opti-coat but after watching todd do it I figured cant be that hard. And it really wasn't just took a couple practice panels on an employees car lol(I be I left high spots on his car)
yup it was bad
after washing and decon this is what was left
cpl rounds with SIP and.....
after a few panels I decided to pull it out in the sun and check my progress. This a shot of the hood after only making 3 pass's with SIP and 2 with SRC Finishing. Before I got to where it needed to be it took 3 more pass's with SRC
That is one pass with Menz SIP 1400rpm Big improvement but more was needed befor it was perfect. Ok so the rest when went like halogens, in the sun, led's, pull my hair out but a few short 20 hours later....
Thanks for looking!
