I will be purchasing the Porter Cable 7424 as soon as i get the "o.k" from you good men! From what i've gathered the PC 7424 will be the only tool i need as a novice for my fresh black paint job. It sounds like it will do most of what the rotaries can do witout the danger. right?

Unless you guys have better ideas, it looks like i will be using Meguirs 83 dual action polish, mequires speed glaze 80, and a snythetic sealant(possibly UPP 4star). I am new to this whole process, and have litte spare time so i'm trying to keep this as easy/effective/long lasting as possible, while keeping the new paint looking good.

What do i need to add to the PC order so i can start polishing/sealing my car when it arrives. I know there is an aresenal of different types/sizes of pads, weights, etc. PLEASE tell me what to order!!!! thanks!

Why don't you order a kit like this one:

Sonus DAS Polisher Kit

You'll get everything you need in one limp, plus use the code AUTOPIA at checkout for a 10% discount. The only thing I would add is maybe an extra orange and green pad, but you always order extra pads later. If you search through this forum you'll see other kits that members have looked at.

Yes and No. While it will take out most swirling and scratching, it will take alot longer as you are not creating heat like a rotary. In addition, the deepest of swirls, marring and scratches can really only be taken out by a rotary. You'd then want to finish with the PC and a light polish.

But so long as your car isn't completely fouled with swirls and scratches, the PC will be your best friend, and does its best work on speed 6.

Go here to get it: Discount Tools, Discount Tool Store

As far as your product choices, I would keep the #83 and 80, but UPP is a little on the non-durable side. I would go with something like EX-P or #21.

if you're going to get #80 and #83, also get #21 (sealant) and/or #26 (carnauba)....

#21 it is then!!!!

So any pad recomendations? I basically HAVE to buy the PC from Amazon.com because i have 50 bucks in coupons there...... Now what pads do I add to my cart!?!?!

Thanks again!
