Order from TOL was damaged...

I just want to let the forum know I placed an order with www.topoftheline.com after reading some positive reviews on their TOL Bubble Bath car wash soap. I also ordered tire cleaner, bug remover, bottle proportioner and glass towels. When I received my order today, the gallon jug of bubble bath had leaked into the box causing a sticky mess. THe other items were unharmed as they were wrapped in plastic. Just wanted to let everyone know and I have contacted customer service. I will update this when they determine how they will correct the situation. Thanks for letting my rant.

I have had gallon bottles of detailing products leak and the vendor replaced the damaged products without hesitation. It is not their fault, as most products do not have inner seals to protect against the caps working loose. They have insurance for this type of thing. I would be very surprised if TOL does not make good on this without any fuss.

Yeah, try not to blame TOL for the mishap. I have not had many orders damaged at all, knock on wood, but I did have one customer who was furious with me. I package the items as good as they can be and unless they are packed in a bomb proof case you can not really do anything about the mistreatment they get while in the shipping company's hands. Just be sure to be polite to TOL when telling them about it and I am sure they will take care of you.

I am not upset at all with them, the packing was secure and the lids were taped to prevent the caps from coming off. Guess it is just one of those things...

TOL is great, they will make sure everything is great with you. I have had issues with a couple products going pad after time and they went above and beyond to solve the problem. Also they ship very fast, much faster than some of the larger sites we visit.

so you make a post saying your box got damaged in transit. this happens on occasion. you should give them a chance, THEN make a post. sorry but I just don't think it is fair to the business.

I'm glad someone beat me to the punch on this, cuz that's what I was going to say.

Have you ever looked in the back of a Fedex/UPS truck? I mean they just "wing" stuff in there to get it filled and off the driver goes. We won't go into what happens while it's on interstate transit.

The worst part is trying to file a claim on damaged or broken goods. The shipper wants everything but your first born. Vendors usually end up eating the wholesale cost, just to avoid getting behind in shipments and order processing.

Like Danase said, be curteous. It goes a lot further, and a lot faster. Ive been in customer service with my work for over 25 yrs now, and I appreciate polite people. You cant help but be polite in return.....

Sounds like your on the right road for reimbursement, and from what i have heard, TOL is respectable......

Funny you should mention that cuz last fall I brought an Air Compressor on-line from a Autobody supplier I deal with and Overnite delivered it damaged. Well I called the company it was shipped from and they said I shouldn't of signed for it.

I said how could I tell it was damaged if it was in a box. Long story short they sent me another one and guess what, it was damaged too. Took me 3 months to get things striaght.

 Pretty much all of the places I buy from ship the same day, I don't know how you can get faster than that. Anyway, I also decided to try a gallon of Bubble Bath which came yesterday, and it arrived well packaged in perfect condition, reinforced box, caplug in the mouth of the jug, etc.

When did I ever post anything that might be damaging to the business. I simply explained the situation and told the forum that I would update my post with the result. A lot of people try products from different vendors. As I am a new member here, I have ordered from 4 different vendors and have had nothing but good experiences so far. But all those sales were based on reviews I had read in the forums.

In the future, with any shipment that cannot be inspected, expecially fragile or mechanical equipement, always sign your name with the phrase "subject to inspection." If the delivery guy won't let you do that then insist he wait a moment and open the box in front of him to inspect the contents.

Now let me rant a bit... why is it this tread even exists. Why do people see the need to vent the smallest things about a company BEFORE even contacting the company in question. Things happen in shipping that is beyond the shipper's control. That's why we have that little thing called insurance. The internet and forums are great and sometimes this word of mouth "power" can really help a product or company. But sometimes this "power" is abused when every little complaint is aired. Before posting why not simply call the supplier and get it workled out. If you get no satisfation and no results then rant... or if you get great service post that too.

That is exactly what I am trying to do...I want to update everyone and let them know that they took care of the order and shipped a new bottle. I told them to hold it until I placed my next order with them, which will hopefully be today.

lol Shelbrain you need to chill and get that Karma indicator up a bit, why even bother telling us you should of said it was shipping's fault.

Of course it will get dealt with and with 14 posts, this being one of your first you need to watch what you say, you could after all be a competitor trying to give them a bad name.

John (its all KARMA dude)!
