Orbital buffer and ScratchX?

Time to do the Spring detail. I have VERY little marring on the paint despite my current techniques which many of you would probably throw the book at me. :p I have most of the Mequiars line because it is conveniant for me to purchase locally and also a few 3M products.

My thoughts for the detail order are as follows:

* clay vehicle

* ScratchX vehicle

* Eagle One Wet polish (<----opinions on replacement?)

* Meguiars NXT wax

I have a Black & Decker 6" orbital buffer. Will it be okay if I use the buffer with the ScratchX? Will it be anymore effective than by hand in terms of finish?

I recall Mike doing a car at the Barrett jackson auction with Scratch X and the PC. After the fact one of Meguiars' chemists said it was for hand use only.:)

I wouldn't use it with your 6" orbital, as the machine will most likely not break down the polish correctly...in your case I would just do the work by hand.

That being said, many people have used Scratch-X with a Porter Cable and had success with it, I'm not sure what started the "only by hand" stigma that follows Scratch-X around, but it is certainly do-able. But I don't think your Black & Decker 6" orbital would do the same job as the PC.

Yes, obviously the speed of my orbital is no where near comparsion with a PC. However I was under the assumption that the orbital would help in working in the polish much more quickly than by hand.
