Optimum Spray Wax: Impressed

Being that AIO is a cleaner/sealant, do I need to use Dawn to strip any wax that I had previously applied to the car, or can I just use car wash? Second, why Dawn? Because it "cuts grease outta your way" - or something like that? Will any dish soap do the same thing?
 
Why not use the dawn if you are going to wash anyway?The dawn will not only remove old wax but alot of other stuff that normal car wash will not.You can get a small bottle of dawn for under a buck and it will last forever.Be sure to rinse the car well after the dawn.Have fun :)
 
Ron Ketcham advises against using Dawn regularly. Something about it ruining the clear coat on your vehicle. Use regular car shampoo and just do two coats of AIO. It rubs on and off real easily and will guarantee you didn't miss any spots.

I would follow any advice he gives.I was not saying you should use dawn on a regular basis,thats why I said that a bottle would last forever.If I were going to use it, it would only be before a sealant like Zaino or Klasse.This was the first I had heard this about dawn and did not want to give any bad or missleading info.
 
The cleaners in the AIO will remove any waxes that are on the car anyway, so using Dawn is not nesessary. Just wash the car with your normal car wash, and then start your Klasse.
 
i have a question about using Klasse with a normal wax like blitz.



well first of all, do i use AIO rtepeatedly till it feels smooth and swirl free? THEN i use the SG? also, can i use as many coats of SGs as i want till it reaches my desired appearance?



finally, the main question, im aware that some people like to put a coat of wax ontop of the AIO and SG layers. im planning to use the Meguiars Medallion one. but after i put that on, do i have to remove it whenever i want to add on AIO and SG again? are AIO and SG totally compatible like Zainos Z2 and Z5 (the way they can be used on top of each other in any kind of order)? thanks in advance!
 
You should remove as many swirls with abrasives before you use the Klasse. You can use AIO a few times, it contains cleaners that will make the paint feel smoother. Yes, you can use as many layers of SG as you want until your car looks the way you want. AIO goes on first, and then SG. I would wait 24 hrs between each layer of SG so that it can cure and you will get the full layering.



If you are going to put a wax topper, you must strip the wax before you can apply anymore SG. The caranuba in the wax will not allow the SG to bond properly. You can strip the wax with Dawn dishwashing soap. Don't put on a wax topper until you are happy with the way the Klasse looks. Make sure you use a pure wax with no cleaners in it. Cleaner waxes will remove the Klasse.



AIO and SG work together. But you only use AIO once or twice a year. AIO has cleaners in it which will remove all of the SG and any wax you have put on the car. Only use AIO when you want to start over with Klasse and wax.

First off I have never been a big fan of spray waxes. I have always thought they were a waste of money. I few months back I did a wash an interior only on a car that probably never has saw a coat of wax in its life. I wiped the car down with Optimum instant detailer and it did a great job for a quick detailer. Several weeks later I saw the car out in the rain and the water was actually still beading. Now I was kind of curious how the spray wax would work. I have had a bottle of the spray wax for a couple months now and finally had a chance to try it out. To say the least I was pretty impressed. Easy to use, slick feel, and really made the paint pop (at least for a spray wax). I applied a coat of Meguiars #21 sealant the night before and applied the spray wax the next day. Here are the results.

I dont think the cars looks bad for almost 100,000 miles on the clock.

Also did my wifes truck as well. Pics did not do it justice. Almost 90K on the truck.

I really like the Optimum Spray Wax. I have a gallon on the way from PAC. Took advantage of the Optimum sale and the free shipping. :clap:

Very easy to use, it makes the paint super slick and it looks very good. Love it!
 
It really is good stuff. I've seen it last anywhere from 2-4 months on customer's vehicles (used over Poli-Seal).

Thanks guys. Beleive it or not I have never machine polished the truck except for the hood. We bought it in 2004 with 11,000 miles on it. Just goes to show you what proper washing and protectants can do.
