Optimum Spray Gun

Any of you guys have any experience using the Optimum Spray Gun or any Spray Gun for applying tire dressings? From the info that I have gathered it is a great way to apply dressings smoothly and efficiently with very little wasted product.

Yea, I wondered the same thing. I have a HVLP gun from Harbor Freight but have never tried it with dressings. I do know that one neat thing about the optimum gun is that it is made to attach directly to most products spray bottles so that it does not require a traditional spray gun cup.
 
This is the H F unit I have been using for years. At $13.00 it is hard to beat.

I have one of the sprayers and find you can quickly dress the tires with it. The sprayer uses a standard bottle which you can leave with the product for later use and not clean up as you would with a HVLP gun. The dressing must be diluted to 1:1 in order to get consistent coverage. If you do a lot of work worth the money or if you want to ensure perfect look on tires with a water based dressing. When used on occasional basis could get by without protection but would recommend wearing a paint respirator to avoid breathing in the fumes. The gun produces a very fine mist and you can easily breath in some of the dressing. Personal choice but would be great for production style detailing.

Yes on both counts. I set the air anywhere between 20-30 and it gets into all the nook and crannies to give excellent coverage. I usually fill the cup 1/4 to 1/3 and when I am done pour the left over back into the bottle, rinse out the cup, refill with water, spray to clean out gun and put it away till next time. Doesn't hurt to have a sponge applicator with you for the occasional to much product applications.

Cool. Thanks for the info, I have the gun, never used it yet.
 
The only down side if it bothers anyone is that you will get some spray on the outer part of the rim. I keep a cloth with me to wipe that area before it dries.
