Optimum Results from a Zaino user----

Thursday was a great New England late winter day--sunny and in the mid forties so naturally it’s a day to wash the car. This was not my first time using ONR, but was the wash I was apprehensive about--car hadn’t been washed in two weeks with three trips up north to ski. The bottom third was covered with road salt and sand. I mixed up 2 gallons of water with 2 OZ of ONR for the wash bucket, a bucket of plain rinse water and 2 gallons of water with 1 OZ of ONR for the garden sprayer. Pre soaked all the sandy/salty areas as I went along and 30 minutes later the car was as clean as a full hose wash. I looked in the sun and with a halogen and couldn’t find a scratch or swirl mark anywhere. For those of you in snow country who have been reticent about trying ONR it doesn’t mare the finish even with heavy sand/salt-a great product.

Just as I finished the postman delivered my bottles of new formula OCW and new OID so I couldn’t resist giving them a try. I had applied a coat each of ZAIO, Z-CS and Z2 Pro just before Thanksgiving and the finish was in great shape, but would have added a coat of Z2 at this point. One coat of OCW-15 minutes--an hour later a coat of OID--10 minutes.

I’ve been a Zaino user for the past five years and have always been more than pleased with the shine, slickness and durability. Only switching to Optimum products to save a few bucks and a little time (once you retire you don’t have much free time with all the Golf, Skiing and Honey Do’s). The results were nothing short of incredible -- I’ve never seen such shine and slickness with any of the Zaino products. Even my wife commented on the shine and she considers a car much the same as a toaster. The OCW is supposed to last up to 5 months (time will tell), but who cares when it only takes 15 minutes to do the whole car. I can’t wait until my ZAIO and Z-CS run out so I can move to PoliSeal and OptiSeal.

I'm interested in how you like it after a few months. The durability is what attracts me so much to Zaino.

Well, the original OCW was supposedly durable to 5 months but I've only read about 1 or 2 reviews that would claim more than 5 weeks. Personally if I was going to use Optimum I'd stick with OS and use OCW as a topper. Report back how it looks after a wash with a regular car wash.

And ease of use.

I was a bit underwhelmed with extended use of Optimum products. To each his own.

Keep in mind that you have Zaino as your last layer of protection (base), from your statement was still functioning great, under the OCW. Any durability test at this time would be the combination of both products.

You will need to polish off the present protection (Zaino topped with OCW) to get a valid gauge of the OCW II ability to resist degradation (durability).:cooleek:

Sorry--never thought to take pictures. Perhaps after my full spring detail.

I realize I have a base of Zaino products under the OCW so will have to wait until I use up my ZCS and ZAIO to try the Poli-Seal and Opti-Seal, but the OCW is so easy to apply (just like a QD) compared to Z2 that even if it doesn't last 5 months as advertised it shouldn't be a problem to add another coat anytime I feel like it after a wash.

Main point is I've never see the high degree of shine I got with the OCW and OID with any Z product even Z8.

The new OCW does have (to me) a deeper shine than the original and OID is like wiping on slickness and wetness. Really nice, fast combo. :)

FWIW, I am getting an easy 4+ months with the Poli-Seal/new OCW combo on my customer's cars, even those I don't regular use ONR on.

I can only compare to Z2 and OCW definately has more shine IMO. Do you go right from Poli-Seal to OCW? I was planning on eventually using Poli-Seal, then Opti-Seal, then OCW. Is this over kill?

Bump for Scottwax!!

Uh...detailing is a daytime job and I don't have a laptop to surf on while working. ;)

I remove OPS with OCW, but you can wipe OPS off with an MF (no OCW), use OS and then maintain with OCW.

Gotta go EZ on the exclaimations bud, it sends the message that it's urgent!!!!! :bat A friend of mine got onto me for using all caps, HE SAYS IT MEANS I"M YELLING. Oh well, Scott has to expect his opinion to be valued since he keeps his PM's turn off, has 23000 posts, and turns out some of the best work in the country.:LOLOL

That's what I do too. Doing that is the reason I havent used Optiseal yet. Since you have to wipe the poliseal residue off anyway, why not spray some OCW on the panel and be waxing at the same time you're removing the residue? It really saves time, and I'm getting a few months out of the old OCW. It says up to 6 months, but I never expect anything to last as long as it says on the bottle. Optimum makes good stuff.

I'll be keeping Optimum around, but I will make an effort to try some ZAIO and some Z5Pro this summer. I havent used Zaino in YEARS...Since LONG LONG before the pro formulations.
