Optimum Poly Seal comparison

Hi everyone,

I just purchased a gallon of OPS and before I have a chance to use it I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to compare it to say Meguiars 66? More specifically does it have the same cutting ability, is it a wowo product or do you let it dry and also the durability, does it last longer than 66?

It is like Menzerna final polish but it also seals the paint.

Use it with your pc and an orange pad for the most correction.

It's hard for me to compare to the Meguiars. I haven't touched any of there products for over 6 years. One of the customer service guys pissed me off.

The only polishes I've ever used it the Meguairs line and the Optimum products. Can you tell me after you put it on, do you remove it as you go, or lit sit and dry like wax or sealant?

Are you recommending an orange LCM pad or another brand? I would stick with a white or black LCM pad persoanlly. But I have never tried it with a LCM orange.
 
You can actually use it with just about any pad you want. I wouldnt stretch PoliSeals ability and go with a yellow one, but the PoliSeal is quite versatile. I used it with orange on a Black 650ci last weekend and the car came out beautiful.

Go with white for a little less polishing effect, green or blue for sper light cleaning and sealing.

You can do treat the whole car before wiping off if you want. it doesnt really "haze" up. Very easy removal........

Back to the question about 66, i have never used 66, sorry. About the only megs products I used faithfully was the Speed Glaze...

Never used #66 before but my understanding is the cut is similar to #80. Poli-Seal's cut via PC or Cyclo seems more similar to Vanilla Moose. It will remove light defects, paint transfers and marring from a more aggressive pad/polish combo but it isn't a substitute for poor prep.



The look and slickness are what I really love about Poli-Seal, noticably darkens and deepens any color.

Yeah about the same time for me too, their stuff don't cut it.

Sounds like a terrific product, will get in contact with MR optimum about it
 
Old meg's #66 was a thick pink cutting lotion with wax, today's is just a quick detail spray with wax

No comparison with poli seal



I've got a little bit of old 66 but would like some more

It was damn good.
 
I'm using it next week with a white LC pad...will a polish pad effect the sealant abilities? I have some very very light water spotting on the roof, it may even be ontop of a layer of a previous LSP that wasn't previously fully removed..
 
IMO....



The OPS does not have the same cut as the #66, but finishes much better--as it should. It is easier to use, does not stain trim (#66 will), and is more verstatile.



I would still reach for #66 if I was going to do a one-step on car with significant defects(obviously *real* prep would be the answer, but in the interest of this discussion...). I think of poli-seal more as a final polish with protection.



You can apply it to the entire car, or one section at a time. The OPS doesn't really haze, it's almost like it disappears into the paint. Great product, but one that you must know the limits of.



FWIW, I have only done about 4 cars with the OPS--still forming my opinions.

The pad should not affect the sealant ability. I asked David about this when I was trying it out before it was even available for sale.



I've used an orange,white, and gray pad with it. It finished off real good even with the orange pad. I have used this on over 10 cars now and absolutely love it. Saves some time and looks great!

Tom,

I will apply the poli-seal to the entire car. Continue doing other things for the detail and just before I clean the glass I will wipe the paint down with Optimum Spray Wax. Like a final wipe for delivery. I have let it sit on a car over night with no problem removing.



I like to use the orange pads for the customers that just want a wash and wax. It helps make the car look like I really worked it. After an Optimum Polish I will use my Cyclo with finishing pads to apply Poli-Seal.

Not a detail spray, a true cleaner/wax.

I did a ragged out 1996 black E300 the other day for the Porsche center and used Poli-Seal on it with impressive results.



It is a repaint, lots of paint chips, heavy scratches....just used and abused. I clayed it, (wet sanded a few places) used the new Hyper with an orange pad then a green pad/white LC pad with OP (some areas were done twice) and then finished with my cyclo and PS. I thought this car was going to be a wreck even after that buffing work but was completely shocked when I pulled it out in the sun...it actually looked very nice, a 100% improvement from when it first came in.



I also did a red metallic cayenne in one step using my Cyclo, orange pads and PS. It corrected the light marring and left a slick, bright finish. The client loved the look as it reminded her of when she first bought it....that's the important part.



So it's a very versatile product and am so far very pleased with it.

Thanks everyone for all the replies, I'm a little late here as I must have unsubscribed from the thread and didn't notice any replies.



I have been using OPS a lot latley and love it, it's so easy to use, and it will remove light swirls on the PC with a polishing pad. It almost disappers when you apply it, and removal is about as easy as it gets. It' leaves the finish super slick and glossy. I just did my Black Grand Prix over the weekend, it was in pretty good shape, no marring or swirling to speak of. I topped the OPS with Meguiars 26 and it's as glossy as I've ever seen it.



As for #66, it seems it has more cutting ability, and if you work it one panel at a time, it's easy to remove, but I am prefering the ease of use of OPS and love the look. Btw, to somoene who posted it being a spray on detailer, The #66 I have is a green cleaner wax that has some cut to it, close to 80.

Can I ask how this product compares to Menzerna PO73 Sealing Wax, which I know is very mildly abrasive finishing polish and seal in one... I am interested by the Optimum products, though they aren't as readily available that I've noticed in the UK so I dont have much experience in using them yet...
