Optimum Polish or Klasse ?

I had a badly oxidized 95 corolla & tried both optimum & SSR 2.5 & nothing worked.;I felt like *** is going on here. Why could'nt i remove the oxidation. What will make klasse different from the two i just mentioned ?

Klasse has strong chemical cleaners, which are more effective for removing oxidation, as opposed to the abrasives that Optimum and SSR2.5 use.

Was the car a re-paint? Are you pulling color off the car?

If it is a re-apint it may have been repainted with a clear coat and if so then you aren't dealing with oxidation but maybe other contaminates, like overspray, fallout or even clear coat failure.

There is no reason why Opt nor SSR will not remove oxidation. I have used both one songle stage paints to remove oxidation and both work just fine. AIO will remove it also but the cleaners in AIO I would not consider "strong".

actually i used three pads with a rotary & a pc i cutting pad & two polishing pads. . They all turned black & i mean real black. I was like *** is this. It was weird. So i just glazed & did what i could. :sadpace: it was the first time i fail to delivere a good detail. :sadpace:

Then you were also removing oxidation. Sounds more like a paint issue over product/tools issue.

the color was light green. it was owned by a grandpa. I still dont know why all my pads turned black. I tried everything i had.

If your pads turned black, it must have been stubborn, embedded dirt/contamination. On neglected finishes like this, a decontamination system (Finish Kare or AutoInt) is a Godsend. If you dont have this, use a stronger chemical cleaner with terry applicator pads, or even twisted wool pads with an aggressive compound.

How was the condition of the paint? Dull? Reasonably shiny? Rough?

:up DAME :spot accurate post. The paint was just like that. There was no way my makita was going to do it with a foam polishing pad. I guess for the next time i see one of those cars in bad shape i will try the KLASSE or high temp. Along with 6 more pads. :waxing:

BTW whats the difference between the twisted wool pad or knitted wool,

But maybe wetsanding will be a better choice. ? :idea this way i can still use the optimum polish after & then glaze it. What do you recomend ? :usa

A twisted wool pad has its fibers, well, spiral-twisted and they form a multi-yarn/multi strand structure. It is the more aggressive of the two. A knitted wool pad looks like a piece of lambswool fixed onto an appropriate backing. If it made of pure lambswool, it is very soft and can be used for finishing too (soft paints).

As for wetsanding, prepare to bring several sheets of paper, because this amount of dead paint will clog the paper in no time. No too economic...
