Optimum Poli-Seal quick hit

David from Optimum shot me a sample of this stuff the other day and I gave it a try over the weekend. I haven't seen the stuff discussed much around here, so I thought I'd mention my findings.

Keep in mind, this is a brief, quick hit of my experiences and not intended to be a full, comprehensive review.

From the label (paraphrasing) - Optimum Poli-Seal is the most unique and versatile all-in-one product ever introduced!...The micro abrasives in [Poli-Seal] will ensure light paint correction and not just in the hiding of imperfections. It can be used as a light swirl mark remover, a final polish and a true wax and sealant.

Characteristics - It is a liquid that has the look, feel and consistency of hand lotion. It is very smooth and free of chunks. There is no artificial scent. It smells like a polish. It's not an unpleasant smell.

Experience - The test subject was a white Pontiac Grand Prix. I was at a Mod Day and I had brought along my arsenal to give a detailing demonstration. A member with a white car wanted me to do his hood to see what difference I could make. It had light swirls (hell, the hood is white) and had some staining. It probably needed a claying, but I left that at home.

I hit the hood with the Opti-Seal with my PC and a white LC polishing pad. I worked it at speed six for a couple minutes. The Opti-Seal did clean the stains off the paint and removed/reduced most of the light swirls. It was easy enough to buff off and I didn't notice any streaking. The surface was pretty slick when I was done. The owner was pretty impressed and were the observers.

Conclusion - I still need to test the stuff further, but I think it will make a very good one-step product. It has decent paint correction abilities and leaves a slick surface behind. I can't vouch for beading or protection as it wasn't raining and the car is on the other side of the city. I'll see it next month, so I'll be able to check up on it then. If I can find the time, I'll probably test it out on our black Envoy. The vehicle does need a full detail as it's been several months since it's seen one.

As I said before, this is meant only as a quick hit of a review. I tried the stuff and wanted to mention it around here. I don't post much in regrads to reviews, but I thought some of you might be interested.

I don't know wher you can find the stuff. I don't even know if it's even being produced yet. I imagine Autogeek has it or will have it shortly.

Scott P:

Looks like I just missed the boat, having just received from e-shine in Canada a 32 oz bottle of OPTIMUM POLISH which will do all the things you say (I haven't used it yet) except seal according to the label. There are instructions on the huge label describes what paint defects it will fix according to which pad and at what speed is used on your buffing machine. It goes on to say you should "wipe off the residue" by misting Optimum Car Wax on it and wiping it off with a microfiber towel to give a "streak-free perfect finish."

The Optimum Car Wax I guess is the Sealer which is not required in the product you gave a quick rundown on here. Just my luck, lol. I can go out and buy another product or get the Optimum Car Wax.

While I'm not familiar with the Optimum line, I think it is unlikely that the two products are all that similar.
The Polish you purchased is most likely more capable of correcting paint flaws than the all in one product Scott used.

Actually SillyWilly this is a new product from Optimum. It is an all in one product- brand new to the market. Optimum polish and optimum car wax is just that... a polish and a wax- two separate products. The new poly seal is a brand new product that is a polish and sealant/wax all in one step. This will not only save time but also $$.

Looking forward for pictures and durability info Scott... thanks!

Thanks for your input Charles. I have since tried to use the polish and it is watery and shaking it vigorousy doesn't help much. I then found a few threads here where members state the same experience. They were lucky and got a free replacement from PoorBoy of the new formulation and didn't have to return the 32 oz product.

I ordered mine from e-shine in Canada, so I'm wondering if I can write direct to PoorBoy and hope to get the same treatment or must I ask Eshine and hope for the same treatment? Advice appreciated.

I don't think you'll get the same treatment from Poorboy becuase you are using the Optimum line... not Poorboys :bubba

You can try contacting Optimum or E-shine and see what they have to say.

My Optimum was very watery too, but I found that I hadn't shaken it enough. If you feel like getting a workout, try shaking it for up to 5 minutes. See if it thickens up by then.
(Also, as mentioned by budman3, Optimum isn't a Poorboys World product line. ;) )

Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was a Poorboy product. See what a newbie I am? lol.

I tried out this product on a black BMW -5 seies at 65 degree out in direct sunlight, it cleaned the paint and removed alot of wash scrathces, swirls and other imperfection rather quickly with minimal efforts. Even though I did this by hand because the car was in decent shape, I was amazed by how quickly this polish removed fine swirls. I though it was fillers and glaze doing the job till I read that the polish had no glaze of fillers. In terms of look this Polish is at par with Menzerna Final Polish. On the wetness and depth it rivals P21S concours paste wax. It cleans just as good as Klasse AIO. Longevity of protection from UV, water, acid will be the ultimate test of Poli-Seal value. I'm amazed that in one product you could have Kasse AIO,Mezerna Final polish, P21S paste wax. If this product protects for minimum of three to four months, it defintely will be my go to product for one step.Right now I'm replacing Menzerna Final polish with Optimum Poli-Seal
