Just wondering what's the recommended way to remove dust and general grime from a car in between long detail sessions.. I've got a black car so I have to do this quite often...

California car duster or the Clear Pearl Instant Detail Spray +MF?

duster aint getting grime off...so thats gone....it all depends on how much "dust' we talking about....i dont get the 'long detail" thingy your talking about..my car is a daily driver...darkish grey...so at least every wk wash....QD at least every other day if not every day when i come home at night.....i usually use the duster first if i need it before the QD+MF.....so how long are we talking about between long details...everytime i wash the car i clean the inside with a damp MF.......i have used the EF clear pearl and like it but since i started with the Zaino i mostly use Z6....and Meguiars FI(bird crap following ISA)....

Sorry, I meant that normally I was every other week when the weather is good around here. 8 months of the year is spent in rain :)

I'd like to be able to wash the car every other week and something in between washings to maintain a fresh look. Is the Clear Pearl Instant Detail Spray the way to go?

you cant go wrong with that....but if its gonna be 2 wks between washes you have to be very careful as to what your wiping around the paint....like even if u cant wash the car every wk....like i woant be able too soon...:) i just QD every chance i get to keep it nice.....the biggest thing i am careful with is the lower panels...where all the crap from the ground collects....try to do all those last and with a seperate MF if possible....like what i do is take a little bucket of warm water out to the car(dont have a hose..driveway..)and get all the loose dirt and crud off the bottom every nite...whether i see stuff there or not...ITS THERE!!!...so yes...IMHO a good QD'er can maintain the fresh look...if your careful and consistent....did i draw that out long enough....HTH:)

Floni, you pretty much nailed it right on the dot!

Just make sure your car doesn't get more than just a little dusty when you do a QD.

Although there are many different ways people QD their cars, I personally start out by removing a lot of the dust with a CA Car duster. Then I take a MF towel wrung dry (after dipping it in a bucket of water), fold it twice and spray one shot directly onto the towel for every panel I wipe. I find that I get more even distribution this way than by spraying directly onto the panel. It also uses much less product. Then I buff the panel with a separate clean 100% cotton or MF towel. If the damp towel gets soiled, just dunk it in the bucket again, agitate it around a bit and then wring it dry again and continue.

I feel that wiping a wet, QD sprayed towel is much less risky than wiping a panel with a dry towel...even after spraying the panel with QD (unless you completely cover the panel with QD). Just my opinion & 2 cents worth! :)

As for Clear Pearl, I've never tried it...but I'm sure it'll work well. It's hard for me to tell the difference between the various QDers out there (except, of course, the way they smell!).

perfect advice for a QD/Quik wash so to speak...i do that bucket thing evry once in awhile too........also...the QD on the MF....i learned that the hard way when i went thru a bottle Z6 in less than a mth....:) $$$........and i could feel the dry paint areas as i went over them with the first pass of the MF...even though i sprayed the Z6 on....its a catch 22...its very concentrated so u arent supposed to use alot...but you dont want to wipe a dry panel....so yuor way...damp MF is the best...IMHO....what happened...chow is sick of us already..............:p

I've always preached using a moistened microfiber towel for quick detailing. I always spray some quick detailer onto the surface AND the towel itself. A few years ago, I really didn't see the need to do this as the Miracle Towels were so soft and smooth. They just glided over the paint. Now, however, they've lost this characteristic. So for the last year and a half or so, I always spray these towels a bit before using them. Laters
