Optimum Hyper Polish vs Optimum Primer for OC 2.0 Prep

Hey guys,

My understanding is that the Optimum Primer Polish is a spray-on polish that is designed to provide both minor corrective abilities and act as a catalyst for OptiCoat Pro applications.

However, the product is not available for the consumer. I read a post somewhere that Optimum Hyper Polish is essentially the same product, but does not contain the catalyst.

I am looking for a product that I can use before applying OptiCoat 2.0 which would eliminate any potential bonding issues. So, would Optimum Hyper Polish be the product that I need?

Thanks.

Yes.

Opti has always said that their polishes are best prep for their coatings. According to Chris @ Opti you can polish with Hyper Polish and then do an ONR wipe down and be ready to go. ONR doesn't interfere with OC.

Opti-Guard/Coat has been out for years before this new Primer Polish, and I hear of no one having failure with it using other products to compound, polish, etc..

The most important things to do are -

Get your paint corrected to the level that you will enjoy looking at for a long time.. Certainly as has already been said, the Optimum Products work pretty good, it all depends on your paint, how much correction you want, how skilled you are with the equipment, pads, process, to get this done..

Clean your paint with some of the products out there to clean - Car Pro Eraser, Menzerna Top Inspection, etc...

Apply the Coating carefully, following the directions, looking for high spots and wiping them carefully down...

Leave it alone for a bunch of hours so it can dry AND cure..

Then, you are good !

Thanks.

To date, my process for applying OptiCoat 2.0 is as follows:

- Spray down vehicle with OPC 2:1, agitate and rinse.
- Wipe vehicle with 25% IPA mix.

I talked to Chris and he's telling me that I could just doing a finishing polish with Hyper Polish and a damp MF should make the surface 100% ready. That would be a huge timesaver.
