Optimum hyper Compund vs M105

Hey all, its time to purchase more goodies and Im trying to see if there are any complaints about optimum hyper compound? Ive read some info where it says that it has an "infinite" working time where as M105 has a work time of under a minute. How does OHC finish off?? Ive heard awesome reviews on M105 where it almost finishes LSP ready but have also heard that there is a learning curve to it to where it cannot be over worked. Is M105 worth the 12$ difference?? Any input would be appreciated, thanks

I have read on here that a couple people cut the M105 with OP to give it longer working time. If I remember correctly that came from a detailer that uses mostly Optimum products. I just thought it would be some useful info. If I could find the thread I would link it but I didn't find it.

Yeah I think scottwax does a 70/30 mix of M105/Optimum Compound....and it depends i think on what machine you are working with...a lot of success has been had with rotaries and DAs alike with 105, but i think works better with a rotary...but then again i use a flex i just used by buddy's makita/purple wool/M105..WOW

Wow is all i can say also as i used it with a rotary for my first time. The stuff has no real working time but does an amazing job and it did produce holograms for me.

But since it was my first time with a rotary i expected holograms which were easily disposed of with 106ff.The correction it did with a white pad was incredible.

are you referring to M105 or OHC? im assuing m105 correct?

M105 is in a different league of cutting power compared to OHC. They both finish very well for compounds, but M105 will remove more surface imperfections. OHC is more of a strong polish, M105 a strong compound.

For longer working time and a lower price, M95 is the go to compound. It finishes like M105(or better), but you can work it longer and it is easier to use. I have used both M105 and M95(1/2 of each) and I prefer M95.

I think 95 is a better choice based on working time. I recently used 3m 3000 RC on a Sonus yellow 4 inch pad. Left a very nice looking finish and remove quite a bit. Sorry, but 3m, 105 or 95 will outcut OHC.

+1... and I also noticed pretty much no dusting with M95...

M105 is pretty tough to beat. Also, I don't seem to have much of a problem with it dusting. It finishes so fast that I actually get less dust than I do with any of the cutting Menz polishes.

For a longer working time, I have on a couple of occasions cut it with UF. Very little UF will help a lot and still retain the cutting strength needed. No more than a 90/10 though. But most of the time I really like the quick working time of the M105.

I'm tempted to try M105 but I do most my work out in the sun and I doubt it would like that where OHC doesn't seem to mind.

I have used M95 in the sun and it is better than M105 in those conditions. It still would not allow as long a working time as OHC, but M95 would correct a LOT more! I have not used any OHC in over a year with so many other compounds that do a better job now. I still like and use OC and OP for my next step after M95 or M105 if I use wool or pfw pads.
