Optimum , help me out a little.

New to the reformulated stuff . OCW , Poli-seal , ONR.



OK I mixed a quart of water to 2oz of ONR to use as a QD or a PB Spray & wipe type of product. Slightly more than the QD mixture called for on the bottle . ( I like the smell of this stuff ) .



I've played with the PS and OCW on a few hoods of some friends car's and it came out pretty decent . HOWEVER on my own hood has a coat of DG combo of 601/105/111. Will a pass or 2 of the the AIO poly-seal remove and prep that for OCW ??



I also ordered some "protectant" for int. use. I received a bottle of "leather protectant" are they the same thing or did they send me the wrong stuff for the interior. Was looking for a general dash type protectant for myself. I do not have leather in any of my cars. ( I personally hate it ....lol)
 
Funny you should ask as that was my exact process today, ONR, OPS, then OCW. The OPS took off the previous layer of NXT 2.0 along with a lot of contaminants that claying the week before didn't pick up. I had to wash the white pad after half of the car as it was picking up too much dirt turning it black (not single stage paint).

It was really overcast when I took the pictures so they really don't show how good the car looked when the sun finally came out. I know that any swirls were only filled given the rock hard GM paint but since I am a big believer in the 10 ft. rule for this DD, the results were great.
 
2oz to a quart is fine for QD. ONR isn't reformulated-they just added blue coloring.



PS will give you that last little sparkle on your combo and afer you apply it to the whole car you can wipe off the residue and apply the OCW and the same time. I prefer to spray the MF and not the panel. When the towel gets too damp, switch to a clean side. I don't think this has been reformulated either.



Leather Protectant is the new stuff that replaced Optimum Protectant Plus. they sent the right stuff and you will love it and I like the smell of it too. Very light sheen and NO residue. You can read on the label that it's for vinyl and rubber too.

Better to preserve the clear I think and polish rarely, than to try to maintain a perfect finish all the time IMO.



OP: You shouldnt even have to remove your DG coating. Just spray OCW over the top of it. I've put OCW over carnauba, and sealants and NEVER had an issue. It's a great product.
 
The website doesn't have Instant Detailer, OptiBond, or Powerclean either, it hasn't been updated in quite a while. You could call them but I'm almost positive that Leather Protectant is the new label.

I really should stop polishing , pretty soon I'll be asking how to make primer look good . I always want to try like the full boat to see if I like the stuff and even though the OCW will make it look good it's nice to see the whole package put together with polish,OCW and ONR. Just me being overly anal but that how I judge the appearance .

Not a new product but reformulated. Slightly thicker and a much better fragrance. Fine for leather and vinyl.
 
OK , I'm sorry . Back again with a concern.

The ONR is a pretty nice product mixed up like a QD/S&W type.

The Poly-Seal I did on my hood came out ok , I actually did it 2x to make sure I got the DGstuff completely off . Its been hit with OCW 2x (one 1 day the other the next) . The rest of my 4Runner has DG 601/105/111 on it . I cant get the shine and clarity or even wettness that the other DG panels have . What am I missing or doing wrong ???
 
too many variables Fallguy. could it have been repainted, could it need a finishing pad instead of a polishing pad, give us some more details and/or some pics and we'll try to help
 
Not repainted , it's my vehicle and I bought it new.



Should I try a finish pad with the PS. Thats seemed to come out ok , but I can't really get the OCW to pop with wettness , depth , ect...
 
:nixweiss I have had great results using the new OCW on a customer's black Z06. He wants it waxed every two weeks so it has about 10 applications of OCW now. Looks incredibly deep. However, I get excellent results with a single application on my own car.



To me, OCW has a more carnauba look than a sealant does. Maybe what you are seeing is that difference. How many levels of DG do you have on the other panels?
 
Fallguy you are missing Opti-seal will give you more pop and clartity that the other Optimum products don't give.

Scott, I just thought about that this morning and strangely enough was going to send you a message asking the same thing. This could be very possible since I have been so use to the "no carnuba" look for such a long time.



Would Opti-seal be a better choice , I don't know maybe , but right now I'm kinda feeling may way around the Optimum stuff and don't need to spend anymore money.
 
I would say yes Opti-seal would be the look you want.



Sometime down the road you might want to try Chemival guys EZ acrylic glaze or Danase Wet Glaze I belirve the chemical guys just took out the cleaners in their glaze while Danase has none in his but has more fillers in it will give you slightly different look. So you could use these instead of OCW because they would not play well with the carnuba in OCW.



i am using Opti-seal whole vehicle with Chemical guys acryilic glaze o some panels with opti-seal on top of that testing it out and looks quite good takes to another level also should have to only apply the glaze twice a year it last quite good.
