Optimum Durability

Scottwax uses it as a stand-alone, but he doesn't have the acid rain etc. that we have here in the northeast, everything seems to last longer down there.

Yeah I know, Texas guys get long runs with their LSP's.

As someone who details for extra cash, I wouldn't feel right using any of the popular sealants here or OCW with the 1 month durability I get with these products.

That's why I stick with the Collinites, #16, FK Pink Wax or Blitz as my LSP's and use the beauty waxes or OCW as final toppers if time and effort permits. It's nice to hear 3 months later that the cars still bead up nicely.

Sorry to go off topic. I still really like OCW though. I just can't get myself to use it as anything but a QD-like touch up after washes. It's a psychological thing I guess.

I'm in Texas, too, but 6 weeks seemed to be too much.

It's no big deal...I just wanted to see if I was in the ball park with my findings.

Thanks for the feedback, guys :)

For a start I think that 5mths durability is not realistic for the OCW. After all its still a spray wax. I also find that the OCW is not as slick as compared to Carnuaba Waxes. There is beading but there seems to be some friction when I use my cloth to wipe off water after the rain. Anyone experience this?

However, until this past weekend I had OCW (over Natty's) on 1/2 of my daily driver (the passenger side) with Natty's regular on the other half. This car is driven at least 150 miles daily, and usually get's pampered each weekend (bath, another coat of Natty's and OCW) up until the real bad weather a few weeks ago. What I have found is that the Natty's side held up better than the OCW side - better beading, fewer spotting, etc.

Im confused how the Nattys topped with OCW was less durable than Nattys alone? Maybe I misread your post? I use OCW as a topper after washes or details, nice product but I dont expect the durability of Zaino, collinite, etc out of it.

What do you mean by durablity??? The Red trans am is parked 24/7 out side and it only has OCW on it I'll drop by to day to look at I know it has not been washed yet.. it might have snow on it though..

I do - some people mentioned it streaks below 50, but I find that's only if it's humid. It's dry here, and right now normally between 10-30f daily - no streaks for me. It's hard to judge the durabilty I'm getting since I just apply it right over the last application, but the last time I applied it was the first of November so I'm going on 9 weeks now and it's still beading.

Anyone use OCW below 50 degrees?

Don't try it. :) IME, the streaking was awful. If you can use it in a heated garage, then all is well. For *me* using it outside, in sub 50* weather was horrible. It does say not to on the bottle, so I don't consider it a bad thing, just something to note when using it.

man, you guys have got me all excited. I'm gonna break out my OCW and do the cars this weekend....it'll give me something to do during the winter doldrums!!

Cheers!

I applied with a plush towel. I shaked the bottle real well. I applied a spray or two per panel & I got two weeks of protection. it rained three times last week & this week my car had no beading. This OCW stuff will be used as a monthly QD to boost my Carnauba :banned:

I really like OCW.

But I would not apply it under 50 degree.

I have applied it like that once and it was not easy to use.

However, it was very easy to apply when it is warm/hot outside (this weekend was

spring-like in Northern Cal - and it was a breeze to apply).

I am also getting so-so durability on OCW. I put it on my wife's SUV.

It is parked outside 24/7 and no car cover. 3 weeks (during California rainy winter)

is about what I can tolerate before I will put on another coat. IMO, the durability is

on par with 4* sealant.

On my covered car, OCW lasted a long time (this was on top of Souveran).

At any rate, for my wife's SUV, I might switch back to Zaino this spring.

I had it last 3-4 months on my Tacoma. I applied two coats after a wash without polishing in September and then didn't reapply until last month. When I did reapply there was still some beading but very large beads and the wax was definatly at the very end.

Considering it's a spray wax I was very surprised at how long it lasted.

I just re-applied last week. The beads were looking a little undefined and the glossiness was down. So that's ~13 weeks from one application right after polishing. I don't know how some folks are getting two weeks.

Car is garaged but spends all day outside - I drive it over 100km a day.
