Optimum car wax vers Aqua wax

There is probably a thread on this, but where? These seem to stack up well against each other except I can buy Aqua wax locally and not pay shipping. Has anyone compared the two?
 
Aqua wax is more a "wax as you dry" product where Optimum's wax is a spray wax. I thought they were two different types of product.

I've used Aqua wax and it's a great product and not overly expensive. Right now I'm trying Prima Hydro wax to compare it to Aqua wax. I have yet to try Optimum's spray wax though.
 

I personally DG AW as a "wax as you dry" type product. It adds a nice gloss, while enhancing the slickness. When used like this I have noticed it wears off in around 2 weeks. I have been told that is you use it “dry”, it is more durable and last longer. I would not expect it to last more than 3-4 weeks.

OCW can be used a "wax as you dry" product. But when used like that I usually remove 90% of the water first and then finish when using OCW. OCW is more of a true spray “Wax”. The durability is around 2-3 months as a standard. I like the gloss and slickness it leaves behind. It works great on top of OC / OG as well to enhance the slickness and finish as a maintenance product.

I've found that DG AW used after drying will keep whatever LSP you have on your car going for as long as you want to. I think most folks here take much better care of their cars and as such, wash more often. I used BFWD as my LSP and although I guess I "should" use their products, I can't help but reach for AW. It's local, cheap,the smell takes me back to summer and hot ladies putting on sun tan lotion. You can't get that from anything else. Heck, even my wife loves putting it on her car, says it puts her in a pina colada mood. Whatever, all I know is she is happy and that makes my day.
 
I have and use both. The biggest difference in my book is that AW is a sealant while Opti contains carnauba. I use them dry as a last wipedown prior to turning the car back over to the customer. Both add a very nice refined look. Opti seems to have a bit more staying power and can be used as often as you like. AW, if used often (weekly), seems to slightly dull or mute some pearl & metallic finishes whereas Opti makes them jump out at you. No scientific proof, just my observations over the years. Honestly I'd have a tough time choosing which is why I have both. When used as a drying aid I would have to say that AW excels in that particular usage.

I believe Chris at Optimum stated in another thread that while OCW can be used as a drying aid, the water will compromise durability.
 
I find that AW leaves more of a sealant look where OCW gives more of a carnuaba glow. I find that I also get less streaking with AW. You can't go wrong with either.
