Opti-Coat Question

Curious for those that offer it, how are you offering it? I understand what it does, but am curious to how others market it and what they generally charge? I have a vial coming today that I am going to start testing on my truck to get use to the product. I understand you pretty much do not have to wax the vehicle for anywhere from 1-3 years, but can wax/seal at own discretion. I am correct on this? I also understand that it protects against scratches and swirls. Not scratches as someone trying to remove paint, but your general everyday improper wash processes, or auto tunnel washes, quick detailer with a cloth towel wipe downs, etc. Or again, am I misunderstood on that point?

Also for anyone who has used this on a road course car, how much protection has it given against road rash and rock chips?

Just trying to learn all I can about this product. Thanks.

Product Review: Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 – Detailed Image

Main part that addresses your question...

Most importantly, I feel Opti-Coat is revolutionary for both consumers and the detailing community. By offering this product to our clients we are, in a sense, offering a renewable clear coat, but with much better properties. I’ve been using this information to help sell Opti-Coat to my clients for a while, but it is especially important for clients with new cars sporting very thin OEM paint (80-90 microns). Even though this is a permanent coating, I really don’t try to sell it as such. Instead, I educate the customer about the product and highlight the benefits, including that future polishing will remove less OEM paint, since the majority of light swirling and marring will be in the coating. I also like to explain that Opti-Coat offers increased UV protection to replenish the small amount potentially removed during polishing.

No protection against chips. I will reduce marring to a degreee, but it's not some type of magical force-field...if you use poor washing techniques it will still scratch/marr.

I charge around $300.00 "to apply" to a small/medium size car. More for larger vehicles.

I don't think it really prevents from swirls, but it is a great product. In fact, I'll put it on my wife's van this week.

Quick question, any difference with applying this product to a single stage paint? Or would it work just the same as a cleared paint?

Works pretty much the same IME. Still make sure to strip polishing oils off, but you'll have to be more careful with solvents for that task.
