Opti-Coat on black plastic

I'm about to do my first ever application of Opti-Coat. I was wondering if I can use it on hard plastic, the side mirror bases, etc? Should these be treated with something like 303 first?

Short of spraying with clear paint and possibly getting questionable results, this sounds like it might be the way to go for wheel wells too. You could wash and/or rinse them without having to reapply a dressing. I might eventually upgrade to OC just for this and to seal my emblems.

Not all that familar with Opti-Coat, however it does not make sense to apply an aminosiloxane resin based dressing before applying the Opti.

I would assume that while it may look good for a very short time, it would not last, due to inability to actually bond to the surface.

Just a thought.

Yeah, probably want to do a good scrub down with an APC first on whatever plastic part you wish to apply OC to.

I have chrome wheels and don't know if the new coatings would bond. So I just use a sealant as OS, Rejex (because I have it), ZAIO, etc. Then follow up with a quick spray of FK-425.

So basically just make sure the black plastic is clean before applying so it can bond, maybe use an APC? I was just worried that using Opti-Coat would just lock in the faded, non-dressed look. The idea of using Opt-Coat in wheel wells is interesting.

Clean with a strong APC or Degreaser, wipe with strong IPA solution, then treat with OC.

you should take a look at gtechniq c4 trim restorer. i'm testing it know so don't have a final verdict on the long term durability but so far its been about three months and still looks like the day i put it on.
