Opti-Bond removal

After trying to find a tire dressing I was led to Opti-Bond(thanks Nth Degree). I am thrilled with the look it gives weeks after the application. Very pleased with everything except the removal.

The first time I needed to clean it off I tried Optimum Power APC 3:1 and wasn't impressed. Let it dwell and aggitated with brush. I actually ended up getting it off with diluted Simple Green APC at 4:1. I reapplied and was glad it came off with that but not happy if that make sense.

A couple days ago I wanted to wash the tires again after the wife ran through a bunch of mud and wet roads and dried on mess. I had just a little bit of Eagle A2Z and diluted 1:1 and let dwell then aggitated. It really hardly touched the dirt. I've used it straight in the past and it blasts everything it touches.

Do I need to use the Eagle straight from here on out?

Has someone that uses this found something that cleans the tires back to rubber that strips the Opti-Bond off to add product to straight tire again?

Thanks

I've used power clean to clean my customers tires for almost 3 years at 1:1, never had issues removing opti bond. I spray tire then rim, agitate tire with tire brush, then clean rim then spray everything off.

Maybe I need to go with a strong mix then. I've read where people are using the citrus cleaner OTC APC's for tires. The Optimum APC is kinda spendy to be using the much all the time, to me at least. Just would think there is a cheaper alternative for this. I left the Bleache White on the shelf, maybe use that now and then, just don't want to make a steady diet out of it. More experimenting in my future.

The issue is more likely the nature of the mud rather than the Opti-Bond. I have seen some clay based mud cause the orange staining that is very difficult to remove as it enters the pores of the rubber. For tires I often use LA Totally Awesome from the dollar store for the bulk of the cleaning of tires. It is cheap so I don't worry about how much I use. When necessary I will follow up with A2Z or Optimum Power Clean. The BleechWite will probably work but be cautious with it on the wheels. It will definitely require some heavy agitation. Try both a brush and a towel.

Meguiars D103 All Purpose Cleaner Plus is a good cleaner. I use a APC called purple power. Get for $7.00 gallon.

i agree with the above, optibond should clean easily...

if youre looking for a dedicated tire cleaner, save some cash and go to zep purple...cheap and readily available at Home Depot
