Well I was able to talk David out of a sample and let me tell you this stuff is great I knew i was pushing the polish to the limit and now I can go one step farther. I recieved 8oz and have been spot tring it on all sorts of car/trucks.

After one pass with Opt C

It still needed one more pass I felt

Then one pass with Opt polish

All in all I did like it although I belive David missed the mark slightly he told me it should been near the abrasiveness of Powergloss. Now i didn't use a wool pad so maybe that is where I went wrong so when I get my new pads I'll try it again and post an update. the pictures above are with a rotary with EDGE 2000 pads both passes Yellow cutting and Opt Polish got a Blue Polishing pad

Cliff notes: Opt comp. is Great but I feel it should have a little more cut.

Now you can give your car the BIG O twice in one day.

That cleaned up real nice.
What speed werre you running your rotary at, and did you have any issues with dusting?

Looks good. Can the Optimum compound be used the PC? Does the cutting power of Optimum compound depend on the pad like the polish?

Looks great Patrick. Is this stuff out on the market yet? I havnt been able to find it yet.

Kevin Farrell's store has the compound listed. Kevin Farrell helped develop the polish with OPT. So the DC sponsors should have the compound it stock soon.

Eric

Thanks. So my question is can't you achieve the same or near agressivness of opt comp using optimum polish and a light cut pad? I just ordered optimum so please excuse my lack of knowlege.

Greg

Greg,

The compound is designed to remove 1200 grit wet sanding paper marks and the polish is designed to remove 1500 wet sanding paper marks, this is with a wool pad. The compound leaves a very nice finish and on a silver or light colored car it is possible to go to a finish wax without any further polishing. The compound works well with a PC or Cyclo, used it today with my Cyclo, but it really performs with a rotary.

thanks for clearing that up. I dont know if I will need that much abrasiveness but once I kill off some of my polish I might just get some OC.

I tried Optimum Compound via PC last night for the first time on a HEAVILY scuffed bumper and it put a big smile on my face.

Here's what I did and what I noticed.

-I used a meg's burgundy pad.

-Speed @5.5

-Breakdown is similar to the polish (takes a while, no dust, etc...)

-Compared to any other compounds that I've ever used via the PC, this stuff finishes to a very high gloss leaving a near flawless finish. When I use SSR3, Menzerna PowerGloss, Meg's Diamond Cut, etc... I ALWAYS have to polish out the hazing, etc... to clean up. I finished up with a pass of FPII using a white polish pad, but I'm not convinced that I really needed to.

If you have a PC, this compound is worth trying!

Thanks for the info.

I too recieved a sample . I did wetsanding and used a wool pad with my 3m PI-III 05933 fine cut RC .
I am pretty sure that the optimum would've worked alone , but instead of using 3m machine glaze and finishing with somethign else , I went straight to the Optimum with a green pad and finished with a white pad and no hazing , no holograms , no nothing left behind that the 3m + wool put in the finish after buffing out the 2000 grit wetsanding marks .
