Opinions from pros - what would you do if this were your car?

RAskyR1- Sorry, no info on that paint code...and I can't just check as it's mothballed at my Jag wrench's shop. I'll try to remember next time I visit and get the info to you, I'd be curious what your dad would say. With any luck, its paintwork is done now and it won't need any more in my lifetime (fingers crossed!), but it does have one area in b/c now :(

Yeah, my guy mixes paint too, but there *is* something weird about that one. Note that Jag quit using it (and briefly resumed, and then quit again) because they had so many issues with it, and that was during production and right after delivery! Mine was reshot in numerous areas at the factory, and then again (presumably after importation) in other places before it got to the original dealer  (sorta an interesting story-car, but not in a good way when it's my long-term keeper  ).

Picus / others - couldn't you just level the paint as needed and apply some Opti-Coat? It's kinda like applying clearcoat by hand.

We're still waiting to see how your hood holds up David! :)

Since I leveled my wifes car to a not so safe level I was going to apply Opti-Coat to her car. She just had the fender and bumper cover painted and I need to wait a few more weeks. ;)

Ah yes, thanks for the reminder. I actually thought about that; I have Opti-Coat. Definitely worth a shot.

Opti-coat has very little film build. X-Kote has a fair amount of build and might level into the etching. Just my thought.
