opinion wanted : klasse, zaino, blackfire

Have a new 2002 truck, dark green metallic paint with clear coat. I would, naturally, like to protect this new finish for as long as possible while at the same time would like that deep wet look.

From searching these boards, it seems that zaino protects the most and longest, but gives more a reflective shine than a deep wet look and maybe(?) is best on light metallics like silver, gold, etc.

Also, seems that blackfire does what I want and is especially good on dark cars, but doesn't last very long or protect very long. I do not want to have to put this stuff on all the time.

Klasse seems to fit in right between the two (perhaps with a topper of wax for extra depth).

Anyway, perhaps I am just missreading all these posts. So, what are your opinions on this?

I think your views on the 3 are dead on. Blackfire would look the best but Klasse or Zaino would probably last longer. Platinum has a new forumula that lasts longer than the old one did. Platinum looks as good or better than Blackfire does, IMHO. www.premiumautocare.com is a good place to look for that stuff at. They also carry Klasse and Blitz if you are looking to get some of that. Blitz is probably one of the better carnuba toppers you can get for less than 50 bucks a can. If you are feeling like spending some money and getting an incredible wax then check out the Pinnacle waxes too. Very nice stuff!

Here is a green car with Blackfire topped with Pinnacle Souveran. It looked 10 times better in person. You know how it is with green...

welcome to the board!!!

Can not comment on Klasse or BF but Zaino is great on my black Z28. With the combination of usage of both Z2 and Z5 depth is no problem. Easily as deep as any carnuaba I have used over the last 30 years. The only problem I find with Zaino is that it maintains its high level of shine and lower dust attraction so long that it becomes boring. Daily touch-ups with QD's are not necessary after a short spell outside. A quick wipe down with the Cali duster and she is autopian fresh again. The great plus is the Z7 wash. This wash actually improves the finish rather then degrade it. A little Z6 (QD) and the car appears as though you just added another layer of Z2/Z5. There is no visual incentives to make one want to polish. Nevertheless, the act of adding another layer is almost too easy, especially with the rather new ZFX additive. If you enjoy the act of rejuvenating the shine on your car daily, Zaino is probably not for you. If your car is stored outsides 24/7 constant maintainance maybe necessary with Zaino. The only true drawback I have discovered with Zaino is that its extreme water-beading capacity can be a problem if not driven to remove water or car wiped down. I treated the hood on the Lexus and after a rain water-spots ( not etching ) was all over the hood. Removal was only a QD'ing away but waterspotting without rapid removal could be a problem for some. Maybe someone else can chime in a discuss this event on a daily driver.

Can't beat that Zaino shine. :bounce

I should have also specified that my truck, while used every day, is garaged both at home and at work. so maybe it gets 30 minutes of sun and stuff a day.

Jngrbrdman,

Nice pic there. I especially like how you've got Jennifer (?) cleaning up and putting away your detailing supplies. Now if only I could teach MY wife to do that.

Heh, heh, heh... Actually, it wasn't that hard to teach. She is pretty anal about keeping things clean. If I'm doing cars on her day off then she practicly insists that she comes with me so that she can do the interiors. What's that you say? You want to do the windows? Hmmmm... Geee... Let me think about it..... :D

I've only used Klasse personally, but from what I read from your post, your conclusions are correct. Honestly, if you went with Klasse or Zaino, I think that you'd be very happy.

I have Klasse AIO x 3, SG x 3, and then 6 coats of Platinum on top. The Klasse gives a somewhat cold, plasticky shine, but you can't beat the durability. The Platinum on the other hand gives a very deep, glassy look, much like a good Carnuba but with better protection. I haven't used my new Zaino yet, but to me, while great, the Platinum may not be the "wettest" or "dripping" looking, but is still very glossy. That, and after a Platinum wash and QD, it's as shiny and slick when fresh.

My next step will be to try the Zaino I just got, and see if it really gives the "look" I want on the pure black we have.

Both Klasse and Platinum are extremely durable, with the edge going to Klasse I think.
