OP II vs SIP

How does the new OP stack up to SIP, anyone used both? I've had the original OP and like it very much. I bought and use SIP because it cuts better. I would like to try out the new OP. Thanks in advance.

Yes, OPII has very little cut if any. It has a long work time and seems to really polish nicely. SIP cuts alot more, but finishes down in most cases IMO with some haziness that requires a finer polish such as OPII or 106ff or 106fa to be LSP ready.

I have two version of OPII. The first one has pretty good cut but it wasn't the final version. The cut was somewhat lessened to allow a swirl free finish on softer paints. I just got the final production version via UPS today so first chance I get to use it I will post my findings.

I haven't used SIP so I can't comment on the comparison.

Just FYI, Optimum is working on a compound and a final polish. I haven't used either (not sure how close they are to being released) so I don't know how the compound will compare to my current favorite, Meguiars #105, or the final polish to 3M's Ultrafina.

LOL. That's what happens when you're busy detailing at not sitting at home on the computer! :)

Should be that way at least through next Thursday too. Chances of rain are 0% through next Wednesday, next Thursday it rises to a whopping 10%.

Id love to hear a review of OCII. I'm debating between OCII/OPII and SIP/106FA

Just from reading this thread it's apparent that OPII is not a finishing polish in the same class as the Menz 106 polishes.

thanks for the info. Yeah, Scott I was reading about the OCII and the Final Polish. I would like to try those out as well. I am happy with the cut of SIP right now. It has more cut than the og OP. I was hoping that they stepped up the cut in the Optimum cause of the way it finishes down, equalling a great 1 step polish. With SIP you kind of have to take a final polish to it, with the original OP I could just go from that to a wax.

We have Meguiars #105 and 3M Ultrafina to thank for other companies reworking their polishes. Those two products, IMO have set a new benchmark for compounds and finishing polishes, respectively. Great to see othe manufacturers not taking it lying down. I foresee a lot of high quality polishes coming out this year and next. :)
