ONR & Wheels

I thought it was known that ONR leaves behind a polymer film on the surface. This is a property of any instant detailer.

...From what I'm getting is yes its going to mess up the drying cloths drying the tires so bring lots of old ones...

Your towels will end up MUCH dirtier than they would with a standard wash.

...I really hesitate to say the ONR is leaving a residue (gotta wear a flamesuit when criticizing Optimum stuff anyhow ;) ) but it does appear to be doing that...

ONR just used as a wash, imparts a small amount of shine and beading to the surface of whatever it's used on, so it must be leaving something on the surface. Whether this is good or bad will be debated...

But it is... ONR in a higher concentration is a quick detailer. That's why ONR washing leaves a slick surface like you just quick detailed the car. It definitely leaves a polymer layer on the car.

Well, yeah...it's pretty obvious that ONR leaves something behind but (in my earlier posts) I meant "residue" in the sense of something that leads to negative consequences.

A lot of products (including all QDs I can think of, including #34)) leave stuff behind, but those other products don't cause the same subsequent-cleanup issues for me that the ONR does. Wash-strength, QD-strength...either one causes the same thing.

For some reason, when I wash my wheels/tires with ONR (and then treat the wheels with something like FK425), it's harder to clean them up (using conventional methods) the next time :nixweiss It's like the ONR makes [stuff] harder to get off even though the FK425/etc. oughta mitigate any such possiblility.

Just using ONR alone leaves noticable slickness on my regular customer's wheels that make them easier to clean the next time.

Heh heh, sheesh...must just be me :(

This reminds me of how Souveran lasts so long for you (in Texas no less!) but dies so fast for *me*.. talk about "YMMV" :nixweiss

Oh, and when I tried the ONR *without* the KF425 the issue was even worse. Same old thing...some perfectly good products just aren't Accumulator-proof :o

Use AW on your wheels , it pops way more than ONR if they are factory coated clear.

Does ONR have any lasting protection ?

my .02

Souveran protects for about 3 months but the look starts to lose its shimmer in 4-6 weeks.

Might just as well close the thread now .. from what I can gather using ONR on wheels & tires is going to make a mess of towels and its best to use older dedicated terry ones to dry the tires.

The rest of the thread has gone pretty well off topic.

TY.
