ONR wash = LSP failage?

I think it is possible that ONR might make the paint less slick. I know my BFWD doesn't stay super slick long, and I wash with ONR. I have no basis for comparison though since I always wash with ONR. In other words, I don't know if the BFWD would stay slicker longer if I used a water based car wash.

That said, I certainly do not feel like the ONR in any way has a negative impact on LSP protection. I still get superb dirt shedding ability from the BFWD. And the ONR wash leaves the paint looking superb.

I have a gallon of the new formula ONR on the way from DI!

FWIW, the ONR I used was the previous version :nixweiss

I'll see what those areas of the beater-Audi are like next time I clean it up.

To repeat, this was a definite, clearly discernable, unusual effect. Even when my Collinite needs redone it isn't like it was after this happened.

Can't help but think that this might tie in with how ONR behaves on my wheels/tires when I use it for in-between-wash cleanups; seems like the next time I do the wheels/tires they're always harder to get clean, as if the ONR made brake dust/etc. stick more tenaciously.

NO no, I'm not ONR-bashing, and I do still like it for certain things.

Just a thought, after your ONR wash how did you dry the vehicle ?

May it not be worth trying a QD as a drying aid ?

I just washed my new, bright (Ferrari) red HHR SS yesterday using ONR. I have found this paint to be *very* sensitive and unforgiving. It shows everything. It is ever bit as difficult as having a black (non-metallic) car. When I was done, it looked *superb*. It received a coat of OS last week, and it looked even better a week later after the ONR wash.

I had put some tire dressing on the tires the week before and it slung like crazy. I had little black dots all over the bottom of the car as a result. It was all easily removed with ONR.

Is the paint "super slick"? No, not compared to a freshly applied coat of BFWD. But the paint is definitely smooth to the touch.

I am very much confused by what it is that is going on with your ONR.

Finally, I also use ONR to clean my wheels on occasion and I have never noticed it becoming more difficult to clean the next time around.

I dried it with a WWMF. I hadn't pre-spritzed the areas in question with a QD the way I normally would as I was trying to limit the area of operation and didn't want any QD getting on the rest of the car. I did end up using some SpeedShine to affect some sort of improvement because the way the ONR left it was simply unacceptable (even on those parts of that car).

I`ve used ONR for a couple of years now and although its always left paint clean and shiny I`ve never known the finish to be `slick` as such which is why I mentioned using a QD drying aid

Hm...OK, interesting that the ONR-washed surface doesn't strike you as "slick"; after a conventional wash I do still have a slick surface (as long as my LSP hasn't died). In this case the lack of slickness was so severe that I wouldn't be surprised if the LSP were compromised and all my current slickness is from the QD, but I won't know until after the next wash (which won't be for quite a while).
