ONR wash-how safe??

Perhaps you can order from any of the UK stores since they're closer? It may be cheaper.

Just to put you at ease, I use ONR on my Integra with fabulous results.

Same here, Rob. I finally cracked open my bottle this past weekend on a new Camry (Silver) that I detailed. ONR is out of this world! Followed up the ONR with claying, then Opti-Seal (Owner didn't want any polishing...Paint was in good condition). That combo really made the silver pop.

<--------ONR fan for life.

I was skeptical of ONR.

I tried it, saw the light, and am now a true convert! :D

Cool!

It is probably safest to use a wool mitt with ONR on your soft paint. I use one because I can actually let the bottom of the mitt hang for my first pass without applying pressure. The weight of the mixture weighs it down. The second pass gets light pressure and I'm good to go.

Take your time on your first ONR wash. You'll go faster as you get used to it.

I am wondering if you all are just using one bucket, or 2 buckets, one with the ONR and one with clear water? I am using the grout sponge and my ONR wash bucket is pretty grey even before I am done.

I use 2 buckets. The 2nd bucket is a rinse bucket for my MF mit to release some of the dirt in between panels. I go through about 3 mitts per ONR wash so there is always 1 in the wash bucket and 1 in the rinse. Once a mitt gets too dirty I set it aside. Those mitts go in the wash machine on gentle/hand wash and they come out new and soft again.

ONR wash is VERY SAFE - I've done it many, many times and have never gotten hurt!

(somebody had to!)

Guess somebody had to be the nay-sayer too, so...

Glad it works so well for so many people. Wish it worked that well for me.

I use it for cleanups between various detailing steps, but not as a replacement for my foamgun-centric washes. I simply can't use ONR without getting more marring (even if it's *very* little/infrequent and so light as to be basically invisible) than I do with my regular methods. I'm not gonna risk having to polish every year if I can avoid it.

And no, the above is not some challenge/criticism of the people who do fine with the stuff, more power to you.

Same here. :(

I still use it for alot of stuff, though. I also use it after one of my touchless washes if i'm unable to get the car completely clean with the touchless. I have been able to use it without any marring after a touchless, but not as the only means of washing. Keep in mind, though, that I go over my car numerous times every week with a Brinkman, halogens, incandesants, flourescents, and the sun looking for even the tiniest bit of marring.

I still think it s a wonderful product, though. It's simply amazing that it can do what it does... with little (or for the majority, no) marring. It's on my list of the best detailing products ever. I keep a bucket of it mixed up at all times. As I've mentioned before, it's a great interior cleaner, and I have a six year old and a one year old. My ONR bucket sees *alot* of use. :)

I use it QD strength sprayed on panel then wipe down with MF covered sponge or GS from Lowes per ONR directions then rinse in second grit guard bucket after every panel/hood/fender.

Very happy with results, however after awhile, most anything you touch with ANY wash media WILL incur micro-marring or worse IMO. But WOW what a time saver ONR is with just a little common sense, works most excellent.

Again, don't take my word for it.......try it, use it and make your own decision!

Have fun in Cyprus..............:)

Question:

Would using distilled water with your ONR washes (At this moment, I don't have access to using DI H2O) be better that using good old tap water?

Just wondering....

Eisenhulk, it really does work better with deionized or distilled water. And not just because it's easier to finish spot-free. It seems like really hard water interferes with ONR's ability to lubricate. I *definitely* had more marring problems using ONR with tap water than distilled or DI water. When I need to use tap water with it, I double the amount of ONR I use.

The problem is that our water is really ''hard''.

Also due the water shortage we only have water day by day and it full of dirt.....
