ONR--Seriously, whats up with the streaking!??

I have used ONR on 6 different cars now. And each time, it ends up just causing me more work.

I have tried various different methods such as: 2 buckets, a chemical spraye and bucket, 1 bucket only, etc...

I ONLY use MicroFiber towels to clean...one for the first wipe and the second to clean up. And, my washmit is a large MicroFiber one as well.

But no matter what, the paint and ESPECIALLY the windows, are a filmy/hazy/smeared mess..So I have to end up using a quick detailer on the car and Invisible Glass for the windows....and even then, its still not perfect.

On some of the cars its worse, and it only shows up in the sunlight. I am doing everything by the directions, so the only thing I can think of is that the problem is because of my towns extremely* hard water...seriously, it sucks.

Maybe I should try filling my buckets up with filtered tap water, and maybe softer water will help the situation?

I don't know...any advice, please share! Im really frustrated.

I also tried using less/more of the concentration. Did not make any difference.

Maybe the filtered water will help..........

I use ONR at the recommended dilution for washing with the 2 bucket method, a Eurow wash mitt and Sonus drying towels. I've never had a problem with streaking.

i could be wrong but im guessing your washing the entire car before drying correct? because if you dry it off while its still wet it just doesnt seem possible to streak up on you. wash one panel at a time, dry one panel at a time.

I used the ONR the first time just now, love it. No streaking at all, but I only use 1 bucket with grit guard and a grout sponge (thanks to spoiledman) and absolutely great results. I'm not sure what's causing your streaking...

I need to join that club! I am in desperate need of a reliable wash media thats not sheepskin. I think a trip to Home Depot is in order tomorrow!

And they're cheaper than anything out there!

Sorry about sidetracking, but yeah give the grout sponge a shot and see if there's streaking... also do you do one panel at a time or how do you do it?

If you go, they have 1.5" rolls of blue tape for 3.97ea

No, Im not washing the whole car first at all...I usually wash each door panel separately, and dry, wash the deck lid, and dry. Do half the hood or half the roof, and dry....I mean, these *are* small sections. Im really lost here, because everyone else seems to have such great results wiith ONR.

I don't know what to say. I have not had this problem with ONR. I only have great things to say about this product. I use the 1 bucket method with a grit guard and never have any streaking or swirling. In fact, ONR is great on my windows. I use Invisible Glass only on my interior windows to get rid of the film build up from the plastics.

I know this sounds like common sense...but you have to completely dry each panel off with a MF towel (preferably a really absorbant one).

Only thing I can think of is the water is affecting things or there is something wrong with the bottle of ONR. If you try a couple gallons of distilled water and it still streaks I would guess it's a bummed bottle of ONR. I've used gallons of ONR on 100's of cars and never had a problem with streaking.

Yup, I've had this issue with both ONR & DP 4n1... The haze or film shows up on the windows, especially noticeable when its a sunny day!

I now use bottled water from the supermarket (mainly cos we are on tight water restrictions down under) to wash a vehicle and dry the glass sections as soon as I wash them too.... asap

I also put in a few mls less of the solution in the water now (instead of 30mls per gallon I put in 22mls etc...) & occasionally add a capful of QEW to the mix. :idea

I also no longer use MF cloths to clean with but VERY PLUSH sheepskin wash mitts & let the weight of the mitt do the cleaning. I dont put my hand in the mitt use it more like a sponge, seems to help...

Try a few different things to see what works for you.

It may be the water, the amount of ONR you add or sometimes the weather conditions as in temperature, humidity. I don't really know exactly tbh!

But I no longer have this issue & if I notice any film, I re-wash that spot again, no real harm in it...

Cheers. :)

I've never had a problem with ONR. But do notice when I use other products on windows that if you're not using a new, clean MF towel, you will get streaks. I also don't think a water filter or soft water is necessary because ONR IS a water softener.

Are you using the proper dilution? 1oz to 2 gal of water.

I have not used ONR, but hard water is a killer and the number one cause of film on my cars in the past, when I lived in a house with well water. Killer is an understatement.

Thank you very much for the suggestions. I will try using the filtered water this morning on my car.

And using even less solution i guess as well...

'Guys. I have had this exact same problem using my brand new bottle of ONR. I kept calling another member of this forum and asking him if he ever had this thin white film. He lives in the same city (same tap water) and said \"no\". Each time I have washed with ONR i get this film. I thought I might had the solution wrong, I was using 2.5 cap fulls in a bucket. So I measured it out perfect and same thing. \r\n\r\nI am having to go back and re wash my car with duragloss. \r\n\r\nI thought it was just me, because I have never read anything bad about it.\r\n\r\nHere\'s what I do:\r\n2 caps for 2 gallons tap water ( i guess I could go buy some distilled)\r\ncar is washed in the garage so it\'s in shade\r\ndry it all with mf towels that are clean without any fabric softner\r\nas soon as I pull it out in the sun there\'s the white film. I can write my name in it.'
