ONR/Car duster questions

I went to pep boys and they didn't carry ONR, is it something you need to buy online?

And, are those car dusters a bad idea? My car is Dark Blue and not garaged, just under an awning.

Thank you in advance, you all are GREAT!

There's another similar product called Quick and Easy Wash ("QEW") that's often available at RV stores. I've only seen ONR online.

Noting that I'm *very* uhm...well, paranoid about marring my paint, I don't consider the California Car Dusters ("CCD"s) safe. I know that *I* can't use one without instilling a little marring and I'm confident that I'm not somehow overlooking/messing up something. That said, others here say they do OK with them.

Thank you, that's what I was thinking about the CCD when I saw it, but they had a microfiber one. Yet still leery due to scratching the paint with dust.

So any recommendations on what I can use in between my weekly washes to remove the dust? Or do I just have to live with it? My last car was white, so I never saw the dust or dirt lol.

Heh heh, yeah....a dark color sorta changes things, huh?

I'd just *not* touch it between washes. Better a somewhat dusty car than a scratched-up one. But again, that's just me.

:hifive: Couldn't be more true.... I just did a black Tahoe, the owner used a air compressor to blow the dust off his car.... problem is we're in Vegas, there is no dust, only crushed rock. The truck looked sand-blasted:sosad

I have a car duster in every car and use them regularly. Have for over a decade. Now, I use it as the name implies. I don't try to remove 'dirt', water spots, etc with it and I apply zero pressure... just the weight of the duster.

I had one car that while it was mostly a garage queen, I did put about five thousand a year on that car. Since it was generally only driven in nice weather it was not unusual for it to only get washed once or twice a year. The rest of the year was duster followed by a QD. So, it only cleaning, which was regular, was with a duster followed by QD. Once a year I would strip all finish product from it for a really good cleaning. It never needed more then a last step type of polish and generally didn't need that... more quality garage time for me and the car. So, I think dusters can be used safely. Just remember, it is a duster and nothing more.

Some where around here in another thread I posted a pic or two of it up on jack stands where you can see close up the paint. That is a 26 year old single stage lacquer paint job that saw a duster every week.

I use a car duster too, with no ill effects. When you're QD'ing, you're taking a MF towel and RUBBING the dust/dirt across the paint, so how can lightly wiping away dust with a duster be any worse?

On my garaged black mustang I use a duster only when it is sitting with out a cover, or if I am at a car show and need to dust off followed by a QD as the judges are coming. I usually only use a finishing polish and she sees about 3000 miles a year.

Isn't QD spray for after you wash? I am confused, lol.

That's the way *I* use it, but others use it like, uhm...Endust for cars and/or for cleaning off things like birdbombs between washes.

Note how the experiences vary with regard to this stuff. I can only speak from my own experience, and that's not to say that other people (maybe you) can't have *different* experiences. That said, I'd err on the side of caution..along the lines of "how lucky do you feel?"
